Location: Indianapolis, IN

Flatirons Solutions is looking for a Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) Engineer! This position could be a remote position.

Role Summary

Performs detailed analyses to ensure the integration of support considerations into the design process. Responsible for components of programs integrating design for support, development and establishment of the support system, and support of the product.

Evaluates design concepts to determine if concepts satisfy support requirements and the relative supportability of alternative concepts including performance-based support and business case analyses.

Interfaces with customer representatives in review of design concepts for supportability, Logistic Support Analysis (LSA) reviews, and logistics demonstrations.


Participate in development efforts to ensure logistic supportability considerations are incorporated into engineering design and comply with contractual and government requirements.

Establish requirements for supportability aspects of the design based on customer requirements.

Develop new technical documentation, revise existing technical documentation, and provide technical data input to multiple LSA databases.

Interface with internal and external customers regarding logistics supportability/maintainability issues in technical and program reviews and team meetings.

Provide technical direction on LSA strategy to program, engineering, and customers.

Create, plan, coordinate, and perform analyses, experimentation, test and/or product assurance tasks for a project.

Perform technical logistics analysis, calculations, and evaluation of results to solve simple to complex components of programs, by creating or using computer programs, models, or simulations.

Perform technical analyses including Life Cycle Cost (LCC)/Total Ownership Cost (TOC) estimates; front-end and detailed supportability analyses and cost tradeoff studies to optimize system cost from concept phase through the design, development, acquisition, deployment and disposal phases.

Provide input and status to project leaders on technical content, cost, schedule, and workload requirements.

Develop and maintain effective relationships with customers to resolve technical problems and implement solutions for simple to complex components of programs.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant engineering discipline(s), industry practices, trends, and applications.

Responsible for ensuring all change order activity in area of responsibility is processed, documented and communicated.

Understand and adhere to all requirements of the Quality Management System and the Information Security Management System.


Ability to professionally interact and effectively communicate with staff members, customers and suppliers.

Must be detail-oriented to maintain a high level of accuracy in data entry duties.

Exhibit an ability and willingness to take on and learn new tasks and procedures quickly and to handle multiple assignments without difficulty.

Ability to work independently and without repetitive direction.

Demonstrated maturity, strong work ethic and a positive attitude.

Ability to communicate technical information effectively with less-technical personnel.

Ability to train and communicate with co-workers to support customer projects.

Excellent technical decision-making ability.

Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.



Bachelors degree from an accredited university, preferably in Logistics, System, Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical engineering.

Prior US military experience is desired but not required.

Minimum five (5) years of Supportability/Logistics/Systems Engineering-related analysis experience on government contracts; or minimum Seven (7) years relevant demonstrated LSA related experience.

Background in reading and working with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) vendor furnished information including drawings and parts lists.

Experience interfacing with internal/external customers including equipment manufacturers, Supply Chain and Engineering personnel.

Computer/Software Skills

Life Cycle Cost (LCC) estimating software experience is a plus.

Experience with RMA modeling software is a plus.

Experience using the US military Joint Computer Aided Logistics Support (JCALS) application is a plus.

Experience using Raytheon Eagle and/or SLICwave LSA software is a plus.

RCM Level II Certification is a plus.


Working knowledge of MIL-STD1388-1 and -2A, and GEIA-STD-0007 is essential.

Working knowledge of S3000L is a plus.
