core responsibilities
installation and assembly: install, assemble, and configure new electrical and electronic systems, wiring, and components according to blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications. this includes tasks like wiring circuits, mounting equipment,
and connecting control panels.
maintenance and inspection: perform regular preventative maintenance, inspections, and testing of equipment to prevent failures and ensure systems are operating optimally. this may involve cleaning components, calibrating instruments, and replacing worn parts.
troubleshooting and repair: diagnose and resolve malfunctions in electrical and electronic systems using a variety of diagnostic tools (., multimeters, oscilloscopes, thermal imagers). they identify the root cause of a problem and perform necessary repairs or replacements.
documentation and reporting: maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repair activities, and system performance. prepare detailed reports for engineers and management, documenting issues found, solutions implemented, and any recommendations for improvement.
safety and compliance: adhere to all safety protocols, regulations, and electrical codes (such as the national electrical code) to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with industry standards. they are responsible for implementing lock-out/tag-out (loto)
procedures when working on energized equipment.
collaboration: work effectively with other technicians, engineers, and project managers to implement system upgrades, new installations, and solve complex technical challenges. they may also provide training and guidance to junior technicians.
