We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Federal Proposal Writer/Technical Writer to join our team. This role is responsible for preparing, writing, and editing technical and proposal documents for federal contracts. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in federal proposal writing, technical documentation, and an in-depth understanding of federal contracting processes and requirements. The Federal Proposal Writer/Technical Writer will work closely with project managers, subject matter experts,
and other stakeholders to develop compelling proposals that meet federal guidelines and win contracts.
Key Responsibilities:
Proposal Development:
- Prepare, write, and edit federal proposals, including narrative responses, technical volumes, management plans, and pricing sections.
- Analyze request for proposals (RFPs), requests for information (RFIs), and other solicitation documents to understand requirements and develop compliant responses.
- Develop proposal content that effectively addresses client needs and highlights the company’s strengths and capabilities.
Technical Documentation:
- Create and maintain technical documentation such as project plans, reports, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and user manuals.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather and organize technical information and ensure accuracy and clarity in documentation.
Content Management:
- Ensure all proposal and technical documents are clear, concise, and adhere to federal guidelines and company standards.
- Manage version control and document tracking throughout the proposal lifecycle.
Editing and Proofreading:
- Edit and proofread proposals and technical documents to ensure grammatical accuracy, consistency, and adherence to guidelines.
- Review and refine content to enhance readability and impact.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Verify compliance with federal contracting requirements and proposal instructions.
- Conduct quality reviews to ensure proposals meet all requirements and are submitted on time.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with proposal managers, project managers, and other team members to develop proposal strategies and ensure alignment with project goals.
- Coordinate and facilitate proposal meetings, including kick-offs and review sessions.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in federal proposal writing,
technical writing, or a related field.
- Proven track record of successfully writing and managing federal proposals and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with federal acquisition regulations (FAR) and federal proposal processes.
Skills:
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to translate complex technical information into clear and compelling prose.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and proposal management tools.
