Job Title: Life Sciences Solution Architect
Qualification:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, life sciences, information technology, or a related discipline.
- Relevant certifications such as AWS/Azure/GCP Solution Architect, TOGAF, or certifications in GxP or HIPAA are preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience, 2+ years of experience as architect in life science domain
Required Skills & Qualifications
Domain Expertise – Life Sciences
- Strong knowledge of clinical trials, pharmacovigilance, lab management, regulatory submissions, or manufacturing systems
- Experience working with platforms such as Veeva, Medidata, Oracle Health Sciences, LIMS, or CTMS
- Deep understanding of GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, HIPAA, GDPR, and data integrity regulations
- Deep understanding of all phases of clinical trials, drug development, government and regulatory approval processes.
- Familiarity with eTMF, CDISC standards (SDTM, ADaM), and electronic data capture (EDC) systems
- Experience with digital transformation in R&D;, clinical, or regulatory affairs domains
Application Architecture
- Proven experience in designing large-scale, distributed, and high-availability systems.
- Proficiency in architecture patterns: microservices, domain-driven design (DDD), event-driven architecture,
service mesh.
- Deep understanding of multi-tier architecture, integration patterns, and messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with REST, GraphQL, and SOAP-based service integration.
- Hands-on experience defining NFRs including scalability, availability, and performance.
Cloud Platforms & Infrastructure
- Strong expertise on one or more cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Experience with PaaS, serverless, managed databases, and compliance-ready cloud services
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Cloud Formation, or Bicep/ARM templates)
- Familiarity with hybrid and multi-cloud strategies and deployment models
- Experience in designing for cloud resilience, failover, and DR strategies.
Security and Compliance
- Solid knowledge of application, infrastructure,
and data security principles.
- Strong knowledge of cloud security, encryption standards, IAM, KMS, and secure APIs
- Experience implementing secure, compliant systems handling PHI/PII and lab/clinical data
- Familiarity with tools and processes for secure SDLC and Dev SecOps practices
- Knowledge of audit trails, digital signatures, validation, and compliance reporting
Data, AI/ML & Integration
- Experience designing data flows and architectures for structured and unstructured data
- Familiarity with clinical data pipelines, data standardization, and metadata management
- Exposure to AI/ML models in drug discovery, clinical risk analysis, or real-world data analysis
- Experience integrating analytics tools and platforms like Snowflake, Databricks, or Big Query
Dev Ops and Engineering Excellence
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools (Jenkins,
Azure Dev Ops, Git Lab, etc.)
- Monitoring, observability, and incident response experience with tools like Prometheus, ELK, Datadog
- Hands-on with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Support engineering teams with code review, technical leadership, and reusable reference architecture
Soft Skills & Technical Leadership
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills (technical and non-technical)
- Ability to manage complex requirements from regulatory, clinical, and data privacy teams
- Capable of leading architecture reviews and making decisions balancing risk, value, and speed
- Experience in Agile, SAFe, or other iterative development methodologies
- Ability to mentor engineering teams on design and best practices.
Key Responsibility:
- Design and own scalable, secure,
and regulatory-compliant solution architectures for life sciences applications
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand strategic goals and translate them into architectural solutions
- Define data models, integration strategies, cloud hosting blueprints, and system interoperability patterns
- Drive architectural reviews, technology selection, and proof of concept (POC) initiatives
- Ensure security and privacy by design, aligned with life sciences regulations and best practice
