Functional Description:
Finance is a collaborative team, playing a key role in advising all areas of the business.
We have a strategic seat at the table and our unique insights are valued in a highly competitive marketplace and increasingly complex global regulatory environment.
This team provides visibility into AXP’s past and future financial performance & drives decisions that enable the company to achieve its stated financial objectives. This team leads, coordinates & executes the key business planning processes and related analytics across American Express and focuses on process improvement through technology & best practices.
Purpose of the role:
Senior Financial Analyst in this role will be a part of the Enterprise Planning & Analysis team within Corporate Planning and has primary responsibility of maintaining integrity of AXP Management results and delivery of other Management reporting needs of the Organization.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure integrity of the AXP/ Segment P&L; through effective close control activities to maintain high accuracy standards.
- Detailed review of the P&L; along with variance analysis, trend analysis.
- Analysis. Review & research Management allocations to understand issues,
queries and be able to address them through appropriate modifications in the allocation infrastructure.
- Actively support the Annual Restatements process to create reliable Managed results.
- Participate in standardization and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Active participation in multiple Projects (internal, Finance, cross-functional etc) with SME knowledge, offer consultation and support implementation.
- Participate and contribute to the planning & forecasting process as required.
Business Outcomes:
- Accurately deliver on LOB/Segment P&L;/statistical reporting & variance analysis.
- Leverage functional & process knowledge to transform key processes

- Develop, implement & maintain efficient financial processes with focus on control & Compliance

- Pro-actively develop meaningful data insights/trends to enable finance decision support to our customer’s/business partners/LFO’s for more effective planning, forecasting activities.

Academic Background: Chartered Accountant / MBA from reputed institute with minimum 5-6 years of experience.
Functional skills:
- Strong understanding of AXP/ Segment P&L;, key drivers and Management allocations.
- Knowledge of management reporting ecosystem including financial reporting and planning platforms (e.g. Oracle, OBI, TM1) is preferable
.
- Customer focused, with robust ability to resolve operational issues and effectively address service situations
.
- Good collaboration and co-ordination abilities
.
- Be flexible to operate in different time zones to troubleshoot user queries and issues
Technical skills/Knowledge of platforms:
- Ability to use platforms & tools such as TM1, Oracle, OBIEE, Cornerstone, Essbase, Proficiency with SQL & Power B preferred
