The Services System Administrator is the mid-level job in the Services System Administration job family. They assist with ensuring continuous availability of IT services by effectively identifying system requirements, installing upgrades and monitoring system performance for medium complexity systems. Key Responsibilities Install and configure servers The Services System Administrator takes responsibility for the establishment of the system by planning, executing the selection, configuration and testing of server hardware, software, local area network and wide area networks. They install, configure and upgrade servers in line with policy and system requirements. Install and configure application software Services System Administrators ensure that application software is available to users. They do this by testing, installing, configuring and upgrading new and existing application software. He/she may at times recommend the changes to the system, including the application software requirements for such changes and work in collaboration with the Change Control team to ensure that the system is updated with upgraded versions of application software. Creating and maintaining user accounts They create new users and configure and reset passwords. They assist with the establishment of policies that govern user accounts and ensure that these policies are documented and communicated to all users. They lock and unlock user accounts as and when required. Back-up and restore files Working closely with the Services Database Administration and Back-up and Storage Administration organisations, the Services System Administrator ensures the back-up of important files to enable system restoration and minimal disruption in the event of a hardware, security or administration failure. They assist with the development and implementation of a back-up and recovery policy. He/she backs-up user accounts and system configuration files and assists with the development and implementation of the disaster recovery plan. Performance monitoring and system tuning Services System Administrators maintain system performance by performing system monitoring and analysis and performance tuning. They are required to be proactive and troubleshoot system hardware and software by identifying problems and potential solutions. Services System Administrators perform routine network start up and shut down procedures to maintain system performance. They run system load or stress testing and when required escalate application problems to the relevant stakeholders. This individual uses the relevant system performance tools to determine when hardware should be upgraded. Configure a secure system The Services System Administrator takes responsibility for the security of the system by managing security permissions within the system and within systems to which it is connected. They ensure the setup of security policies which enable the management of risk for users. They plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures in order to protect data, software, and hardware. Education, Experience, Skills and Behavioral Competencies Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related. Skills: Good written skills Clear and concise communication skills Exceptional attention to detail and takes pride in delivering demonstrated results. Goal oriented while exhibiting persistence in follow up, escalation, and resolution. Ability to multi-task projects, assignments and daily workload while maintaining timely deliverables. Behavioural Competencies: Must have a start-up mentality and be able to navigate through bureaucracy. Strong networking and relationship building skills required to liaise with the various senior stakeholders across NTT Group companies, and within Cloud Infrastructure. Ability to deal with conflict and adversity & resolve gracefully through strong, clear communication and exemplary leadership, Ability to operate at and with all levels of the organization, including frequent engagement with executive management. Ability to work cross-border and willing to travel globally as and when required. Must be Able to collaborate and build effective working partnerships across organizational lines.
