Job Description
Key Purpose of the Job (Position Summary)
This position is responsible to ensure safe and efficient management of the plant Raw Material and Finished Products Stores. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate recording and storage of inventory and ensuring optimal inventory quantities in consultation with Operations an in line with the guidelines prescribed and to proactively address obsolete and slow moving inventory.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Adherence to planning schedule (Separately for RMS and FPS)
Optimal inventory levels ; slow and obsolete stock reduction
Overall housekeeping of stores
Cost Management and effective utilization of manpower
Accurate record keeping
Safety and environment for stores department
Effective management and reduction in customer complaints (Related to FG)
Effective implementation of 5S (Score)
Improvement initiatives (Kaizen, HIRA etc.)
KEY ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Store Management
RM Stores Operations
Monitor all RM stores operations for the plant to ensure that the material receipt and storage is in line with set processes and standards
Coordinate activities and follow up with the central purchase team to ensure material availability for the plant
Proactively track key items to ensure timely replenishments
Ensure minimal losses due to poor upkeep of materials
Ensure good housekeeping so that material receipt, handling, storing and issue can be done adequately
Ensure cleanliness, safety and security at the RM Stores
Anchor all internal (5S, EHS, Quality Audit) and external audits (OEM, Quality) etc.
FG Stores Operations
Monitor all FG stores operations for the plant to ensure FG storage and dispatch is in line with set processes and standards
Ensuring FIFO in all dispatches
Ensuring Physical inventory is matching with System stock.
Liaise with the Logistics team in line with the planning schedule for effective utilization of transport vehicles and manage costs
Ensure good housekeeping so that storing and issue can be done adequately
Ensure cleanliness, safety and security at the FG Stores
Anchor all internal (5S, EHS, Quality Audit) and external audits (OEM, Quality) etc.
Manage customer complaints on issues such as wrong dispatch, order mix up, stacking errors etc. and conduct RCA for long term resolution
Documentation and MIS
Review and check documentation for all dispatch of material or final goods
Ensure that documents related to Excise, LBT, Octroi are accurate and properly documented
Verify and validate the reports generated by the team and keep the entire plant team informed through a departmental MIS
Ensure that team is recording accurate information on SAP
Inventory Management
Monitor and account for the inventory of raw materials and final goods, and ensure reconciliation with SAP figures and actual stock audit
Ensure accuracy of material disbursement for production, with proper documentation and tracking
Ensure stock is issued in the correct sequence, that is, first in first out to Production
Highlight stock accumulation, discrepancies and abnormal consumption if any to Purchase and Production
Minimize obsolete, surplus and scrap material through proper monitoring
Coordinate for disposing of scrap with the central team
Cost Management
Manage the Opex budget for the RMS & FG stores department at the plant and monitor expenditure to ensure compliance to the budget
Ensure that adequate manpower is being utilized as per approved standards for store operations and look for opportunities to reduce on manpower cost
Identify areas for cost saving and recommend action plan to achieve the saving
Health & Safety
Ensure safety measures are consistently followed and take initiative to enhance acceptance of safety as a culture so as to achieve zero accident level
Train employees on correct methods of handling the material handling machinery and equipment so as to reduce accidents
Report any incident to the Safety team immediately and ensure that appropriate diagnosis of the situations is carried out
People Management
Resolve day to day worker grievance / worker issues and ensure that the work environment is productive and peaceful
Ensure staff is motivated so that the work can be completed in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner
Maintain good working relations with the unions, workmen and other contract staff
Set targets for the team, and monitor their performance against the targets & provide regular and ongoing feedback for team
Identify the training needs for the department employees and ensure provisioning of the training to the team in liaison with HR
Education and Experience Required
Education:
Any Graduate
Preferred Post Graduate with Material management Diploma
Experience:
8 years of experience in similar function that of Stores (FPS RMS)
