About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Shopify Plus Developer who can own and deliver high-impact eCommerce experiences on Shopify Plus. You will work on complex storefront customizations, Online Store 2.0 builds, Checkout Extensibility, Shopify Functions, and deep third-party integrations including marketing automation platforms, payment gateways, ERP/OMS/WMS systems, and analytics/tracking via Google Tag Manager. You’ll collaborate closely with Product, Design, Marketing, and Backend teams to deliver scalable, conversion-focused solutions, and you should be comfortable building middleware or headless services when Shopify needs custom extensions.

Key Responsibilities

Shopify Storefront & Theme Development

· Build, customize, and maintain Shopify Plus storefronts using Liquid, HTML, CSS/SCSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript.

· Develop and enhance themes using Shopify Online Store 2.0, sections, blocks, theme app extensions, and JSON templates.

· Create reusable UI components, optimize UX, and ensure pixel-perfect responsive layouts.

· Handle performance optimization including Core Web Vitals, lazy loading, bundle size reduction,



and render optimization.

Checkout Extensibility & Shopify Functions

· Implement Checkout UI Extensions / Checkout Blocks / Checkout Extensibility for custom checkout flows.

· Build Shopify Functions for discounts, validations, shipping rules, and cart/checkout logic.

· Configure and extend payment & shipping experiences using modern extensibility standards.

Integrations (Marketing, Payments, ERP, OMS, WMS)

· Integrate and manage marketing automation tools such as MoEngage, CleverTap, Klaviyo, WebEngage, Meta/Google Ads pixels, etc.

· Design and implement Google Tag Manager (GTM) events, custom dataLayer, GA4 tracking, and conversion funnels.

· Integrate payment gateways including Razorpay, PayU, Cashfree, Stripe, PayPal, Adyen, and custom PSPs.

· Build and maintain integrations with ERP systems (SAP, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, custom ERP) and OMS/WMS systems (Unicommerce, Vinculum, Increff, etc.).

· Ensure accurate inventory sync, order lifecycle updates, and fulfillment automation.

Custom Middleware / Headless Support

· Design or contribute to middleware services that connect Shopify with external systems.

· Experience with headless Shopify stacks such as Hydrogen / Next.js or custom Node services.

· Use Storefront API + Admin API with webhooks to orchestrate custom business flows.

· Build secure, scalable API layers for custom checkout, pricing engines, loyalty,



or subscription features.

Collaboration & Leadership

· Work with designers and product owners to translate requirements into scalable solutions.

· Conduct code reviews, mentor junior developers, and enforce Shopify best practices.

· Support releases, QA cycles, and ensure smooth deployments.

Must-Have Skills & Qualifications

· 5+ years total experience in eCommerce development with strong Shopify Plus exposure.

· 4+ years hands-on Shopify Liquid development (non-negotiable).

· Deep expertise in Shopify Online Store 2.0 and theme architecture (sections, blocks, metafields, metaobjects, theme app extensions).

· Strong experience in Checkout Extensibility including Checkout UI Extensions / Checkout Blocks.

· Hands-on with Shopify Functions (discount/shipping/validation/cart logic).

· Excellent JavaScript/TypeScript skills and frontend engineering fundamentals.

· Proven experience integrating marketing tools (MoEngage/CleverTap etc.), payment gateways, and ERP/OMS/WMS systems.

· Robust knowledge of GTM, GA4 eventing, dataLayer design, and checkout conversion tracking.

· Comfortable with Shopify APIs: Admin GraphQL API, Storefront API, Webhooks.

· Solid Git, CI/CD, and Agile working practices.

Good to Have

· Experience with Shopify Hydrogen / headless commerce.

· Built custom middleware services or backend apps for Shopify.

· Familiarity with subscription platforms (Recharge, Appstle) and loyalty/referral apps (Smile, LoyaltyLion, etc.).

· Exposure to multilingual / multi-currency / regional pricing implementations.

· Performance and SEO optimization for high-traffic Shopify stores.
