Job title : Mainframe Cobol Developer

Experience : 3 - 5 years
Overview
We are looking for a Mainframe COBOL Developer with 3-5 years of hands-on experience in
COBOL programming and mainframe systems. A candidate with a strong understanding of
COBOL programming concepts, mainframe development tools, and the ability to develop and
maintain complex applications in a mainframe environment. The candidate will work closely
with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements, design solutions, and implement and test
COBOL programs to support business operations.
Primary Skills Required:
Mainframes, COBOL, PL/1, CICS, JCL, DB2
Tools: IBM Rational tools (IDz, RDz, RBD, RTC)
Responsibilities:
● Analyzing user requirements, envisioning system features and functionality.
● Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable mainframe codes by setting
expectations and feature priorities.
● Identify bottlenecks and bugs,
and recommend system solutions by comparing the
advantages and disadvantages of custom development
● Contributing to team meetings, troubleshooting development and production problems
across multiple environments and operating platforms
● Understand Architecture Requirements and ensure effective Design, Development,
Validation and Support activities
Additional Info:
● In-depth knowledge of design issues and best practices
● Solid understanding of object-oriented programming
● Familiar with various design, architectural patterns, and software development processes.
● Experience with both external and embedded databases
● Creating database schemas that represent and support business processes
● Implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests
● Valuable verbal and written communication skills
● Ability to communicate with remote teams in an effective manner
