Department Profile
The Asia Pacific Asset Services group is responsible for managing the timely and accurate processing of all corporate events that take place across the Asia markets, which affect security positions and entitlements held by our clients and proprietary trading desks.
The group consists of the following teams: Pre-payment (Research and Deadlines), Client Service Group, Payment & Control and Japan Processing. The group spread across Mumbai, Hong Kong and Tokyo and is part of the Shared Services & Banking Organisation (SSBO) division within Firmwide Operations.
The Hong Kong team has been established for several years and has developed itself into a highly efficient and successful operation, providing first class client service. This has been achieved through strong focus on control, commerciality and people. We are looking for hard-working candidates in order to fill an open Director role.
Background on the Team
The Hong Kong team within the Asia Pacific group is an asset servicing team responsible for managing the timely and accurate processing of corporate events, which effect security positions and entitlements held by our clients and proprietary trading desks. The group consists of two teams being the Deadline Management & CSG and Payment & Control teams.
Primary Responsibilities
The successful candidate will report directly into the Vice President managing Asset Services Hong Kong. The primary tasks for the successful individual will include:
- Risk and production management of the front to back processes executed in Hong Kong
- People management of the Hong Kong team focusing on career development, training, succession planning and recruitment
- Driving process and technology enhancements to deliver increased STP rates and elimination of root cause within the front to back process
- Client management providing first class service to stakeholders across the Trading desks, Prime Brokerage, other Operations teams and Finance.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should display the following:
- Solid track record working within an operations environment, with asset servicing and client service experience
- Can work well under pressure, lending control and order to a difficult or pressurised situation
- Can deal easily with multiple issues and tasks
- Proven management experience. Skills in delegation, organisation and people management to ensure the team can work effectively
- Strong Communication skills
- Proactive Team Player who actively promotes sharing of knowledge
- Prepared to work additional hours to meet deadlines and strong time management skills
- High regard for attention to detail, accuracy & quality
- Approaches all situations with positive outlook, energy and enthusiasm. Is a self-starter who takes individual ownership for work quality and improvement. Leads by examples working with drive and determination
- Shows initiative and creativity, taking a long-term approach to improvement and resolution of issues
- Is self-confident, demonstrates integrity and business-appropriate behaviour
- Ability to question a process and promote own ideas and solution
- Strong organizational skills, to be able to use time well and prioritise tasks effectively
- Ability to adapt to the changing needs of the department
- Previous experience of Corporate Actions preferable
