Our Values

- We care about outcome, not process. For example, one of our engineers likes to work throughout the day and night and then not turn up the next day. Since he gets his work done, we have no problem with it.

- We've built an environment of transparency and trust.

- We encourage a diversity of viewpoints and have honest disagreements with each other irrespective of position, all in a spirit of trust. When we reach a decision, we disagree and commit.

- We care about doing what's best for the customer. When the customer has a bad experience, we feel bad. We take ownership of and pride in our work. We don't do tech for the sake of tech.

- We never say "that's not my job". If it needs to be done,

and nobody else is available, we do it ourselves.

- Dependable: We don't make commitments we know we can't keep, just because we're pressurised to.

- We make decisions and make progress in spite of ambiguity.

- Continuous growth: We conduct tech talks regularly. When one of our backend engineers wanted to work on the frontend, we encouraged him to, despite the short-term productivity loss. When another of our engineers wanted to attend sales calls to understand customers' point of view, we encouraged him to. We set aside a small percentage of time for exploration of new technologies that are not immediately needed. We invest in our people.

- Data-Driven: We use data to inform our decisions, but not to override our judgment.

- We set a high bar in our product team, rather than doing shoddy work just to meet deadlines or because we can get away with it.

- We treat people as people, not as resources. For example, when a sick person felt obligated to finish his work, our CTO called him and told him that this can wait till tomorrow, till he's better. We respect your work-life balance, rather than making you work 24x7.

What does an APM do?

- As an APM, your primary responsibility will be execution: implementing the product management strategy decided by the Product Lead.

- Sprint planning: identifying tasks, grooming the backlog, assigning unclear tasks back to the requestor, archiving unimportant tasks, reaching consensus on each task, making sure tasks aren't forgotten, following up with other stakeholders, tracking deadlines. Writing clear and effective user stories / specifications for engineers to implement, able to conduct multiple meetings called for by the sprint process (sprint planning, retrospective).

- Prioritising individual tasks according to a high-level plan decided by the Product Lead.

- Keeping all stakeholders informed at all times, so that the work isn't a black box to anyone.

- Working with stakeholders who think differently: engineers, Product Lead, UX designers, business stakeholders, etc. Able to see things from different points of view.

- Doing blameless postmortems.

- Clarity of thought and communication.

- Capturing everything in writing, be it a list of tasks, assignments, scope, due dates...

- Clear assignment of tasks to individual engineers.

- Decoupling people and tasks to make them go faster.

- Executing on time and at a high quality, without the Product Lead (your manager) having to look over your shoulder.

- Effective remotely, since we're all remote now.

- Proactively solves problems or at least flags them as early as possible, whether problems with one's own work or others', rather than ignoring them, and the Product Lead having to find out himself, or the project derailing.

- Making sure engineers always have more work to do than there is time.

- Able to take responsibility for and work on a given feature end-to-end, from validation to conceptualisation to brainstorming to UX to eng to launch to metrics collection and validation.

- This is a position of responsibility: unsuccessful execution by the team as a whole will reflect on you, and successful execution will also be credited to you, in addition to the happiness and pride of a job well done.
