Job Duties/ Responsibilities
Develop and propose an overall business strategy for the organization in line with Group company/Board expectations
Develop a well-researched and analysed functional strategy to achieve the sales objective while being aligned with the overall goal of the organization (including pricing margins, expenditure, customer segment focus)
Work closely with Sales Head to define customer/market segments and create a customized go to market plan for each segment
Generate overall revenue projections for the organization and contribute to development of overall organizational strategy
Ensure effective implementation of the sales operations (including margins, targets, customers etc.)
through Sales teams
Lead the sales operations based for North India on long term strategy - plan sales targets both in terms of volumes and revenue, monitor the performance of various regions and give periodic directions to control deviations if any
Track competitor positioning and strategies and develop risk mitigation plans accordingly
Drive sales teams to develop customer connect and be updated with market intelligence, manage key customer negotiations and margin discussions
Monitor movement/updated in each customer segment and track segment potential regularly, focusing on high potential segments
Align overall sales strategy with that of the Marketing department to support the overall organizational strategy
Collaborate with the Marketing function to identify potential markets (grey patches) and develop and implement strategies to tap such markets.
Support new product/business opportunity development by working with Marketing to explore new products and adjacent opportunities.
Build on ideas from global Steel Service Center industry in exploring opportunities
Drive co-ordination and relationship development with all departments to meet customer requirements as well as with various external stakeholders
Create and maintain channels of communication and co-ordination with all the functions. For example: co-ordinating with PPC as well as operational team to ensure customer delivery and quality
Ensuring effective account management by being updated on the key customer accounts and ensuring regular follow-ups on receivables management
Build an understanding of service orientation and customer solutioning within sales and related teams through regular interaction and relationship development.
Customer and service orientation are equally critical in other departments we well and needs to be role modeled by sales roles
Develop and maintain long-term relationships with the various stakeholders(both internal and external) including management, vendors, customers and related parties
Manage people development initiatives within the department/function and ensure a capable and motivated workforce
Setting goals and performance standards within the department
Review performance management, rewards and recognition and career and succession planning decisions within the department/function
Ensure motivation and retention of high potential employees and develop a culture of high performance within the department/function
