Aquis Search has partnered with an investment banking and capital markets platform to appoint a strategic, business-oriented Chief Financial Officer in Mumbai.

This is not a traditional finance leadership role. The successful candidate will act as a core strategic partner to the CEO, driving capital deployment, balance sheet optimisation, and the build-out of current revenue lines across structured finance, markets, and capital markets.

Role Overview
The CFO will play a central role in shaping the firm’s India growth strategy, with primary responsibility for:
Capital deployment, funding strategy, and balance sheet optimisation
Building scalable INR funding and term structures
Supporting the growth of structured finance and lending platforms
Strengthening transactional banking and deposit base
Navigating regulatory and market challenges in India
Enhancing pricing competitiveness versus competitors
Partnering with regional and global leadership on capital raises and strategic initiatives

The role includes leadership of an established finance team and the opportunity to build the function further as the business scales.

Key Responsibilities
Lead capital planning, funding, and treasury strategy for the India platform
Design and implement efficient INR deployment and asset-liability structures
Partner on capital raising and engagement with regional/global stakeholders
Drive profitability through pricing, cost of capital optimisation, and business analytics
Support structured finance, lending,



and markets businesses from a commercial and risk perspective
Oversee regulatory engagement with RBI, SEBI, and related bodies
Build governance, reporting, and financial discipline aligned to growth ambitions
Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performance finance and treasury team

Candidate Profile
We are seeking a commercially minded finance leader with strong capital markets and deal exposure.

Essential Requirements
Prior experience in Investment Banking, Capital Markets, or Structured Finance
Mandatory exposure to IBD / ECM / DCM / complex deal environments
Strong understanding of balance sheet management, treasury, and funding
Experience in capital raising, funding structures, and cost of capital optimisation
Current CFO, Deputy CFO, or equivalent senior leadership role
Proven ability to operate at Board, investor, and regional HQ level
Strong regulatory awareness within the Indian financial ecosystem

Preferred Background
Experience with banks, investment banks, NBFCs, or institutional financial platforms
Track record of building or scaling financial services businesses
Experience in structured lending, project finance, or bespoke financing solutions

What This Role Is Not
This is not a traditional controllership, audit, or reporting-focused CFO role.
We are looking for a business builder and capital strategist, someone who enjoys working at the intersection of finance, growth, and execution.
