Role Overview
We are looking for a Head of HR to build, scale, and stabilise people operations across a fast-growing bars and restaurants business with ~500 employees. This role is critical in setting up end-to-end HR processes, managing high-volume recruitment, driving discipline and compliance,
and creating a people framework suited to a frontline, shift-based workforce.
The ideal candidate understands the realities of service staff, outlet operations, attrition, and compliance-heavy environments, even if not strictly from hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
1. Workforce Planning & Recruitment
Own bulk and continuous hiring for outlet staff, supervisors, managers, and support functions
Build recruitment pipelines for high-attrition roles (service staff, kitchen staff, bartenders, stewards, etc.)
Partner with vendors, consultants, and local hiring sources Standardise offer, onboarding, background checks, and joining processes
Reduce time-to-hire and improve joining ratios
2. HR Operations & Process Setup
Set up and streamline core HR processes for a 500+ headcount:
Attendance & shift management
Leave and wage structures
Onboarding & exits
Confirmation and disciplinary processes
Design HR SOPs aligned to outlet operations and business realities
3. Employee Relations & Discipline
Handle employee grievances, misconduct, absenteeism,
and behavioural issues Implement fair but firm disciplinary frameworks
Support outlet managers in people issues and conflict resolution
Drive accountability while maintaining morale in a high-pressure environment
4. Compliance & Statutory Management
Ensure full compliance with:
Labour laws
Shops & Establishments Act
POSH
Minimum wages, PF, ESIC, gratuity
Act as SPOC for audits, inspections, and statutory filings
Maintain accurate documentation and records across outlets
5. Performance, Culture & Retention
Implement simple, practical performance management systems
Design retention initiatives suited for frontline staff·
Drive manager capability building for people management
Build a culture of discipline, respect, and accountability
6. Leadership & Stakeholder Management
Be a trusted advisor to founders and business heads
Translate business needs into people strategies
Build and lead the HR team (HR Ops, Recruiters, Field HR)
Act as the face of HR across outlets
Ideal Candidate Profile
8+ years of progressive HR experience
Experience handling 300–500+ employees, preferably in: Hospitality | Retail | QSR | Manufacturing | Logistics
Any people-intensive, shift-based environment
Solid exposure to bulk hiring, HR ops, and compliance
Hands-on, solution-oriented, and comfortable with ground realities
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Willingness to travel across outlets if required
