What You’ll Be Doing (position summary):

The Senior Manager, Quality Engineering leads the Quality Engineering (QE) team within CIBC’s ET QA group This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the system testing process, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions that meet client needs and organizational standards The incumbent manages the design, development, and maintenance of automated test scripts, coordinates end-to-end test support and governance, and drives continuous improvement of testing processes The incumbent works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure productive execution of testing activities aligned with project timelines and business objectives.

How You’ll Succeed (responsibilities):

n

Testing Expertise:

n

- Lead the investigation and translation of business and technical requirements into comprehensive test cases.
- Design and manage end-to-end testing activities for multiple projects, including development and maintenance of test plans, schedules, and resource allocations.
- Develop and maintain automated test suites using tools such as Tosca DI, Selenium, Cucumber, Parasoft, and similar platforms.
- Execute manual and automated test cases, document results, and manage defects throughout the testing lifecycle.
- Ensure all testing activities comply with organizational policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and present regular status reports, test metrics, and risk assessments to project leadership.

Automation Expertise:

n

- Create and execute automation strategies, frameworks, and tools to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
- Integrate automated testing scripts with DevOps tools and processes.

Leadership & People Management:

n

- Set appropriate context when assigning work to ensure that individuals’ roles support the achievement of the business unit’s priorities and CIBC’s overall goals.
- Build team and individual capabilities by providing development opportunities such as job shadowing, special projects, and training.




- Manage performance by providing fair and accurate formal and informal feedback, identifying and removing obstacles to performance, and explaining how performance expectations align with business priorities.
- Create a positive work environment and act as an effective role model by championing CIBC’s mission, vision, and values.

- Coordinate efforts of internal staff and external vendors to ensure timely completion of test phases.
- Monitor project milestones, budgets, and deliverables to ensure successful delivery.
- Identify obstacles or risks impacting project timelines and provide regular updates to stakeholders.

Collaboration:

- Build trusted working relationships with business stakeholders and technology partners.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all testing-related communications among project stakeholders.
- Negotiate deliverables and milestones as necessary.

- Collaborates with project managers, developers, quality engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality testing solutions.
