Responsibilities:

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Mainframe Developer at Principal, you will have a crucial responsibility in maintaining the smooth functioning of our mainframe systems. Your tasks will involve identifying, diagnosing, and resolving medium-to-complex system problems reported by our business partners. By consulting system documents, you will prioritize these problems for the relevant technical teams and communicate in any downtime efficiently. Your experience will be instrumental in delivering lasting solutions to recurring problems, and you will be involved in the orientation and training of new team members to uphold our team's high standards.

You'll have the opportunity to:

- Work independently on production incidents to provide resolutions within defined SLAs, coordinating with other teams as needed.
- Serve as a link between the business and technical teams, guaranteeing clear and effective communication.
- Document problem resolutions and current findings for future reference, updating SOPs as necessary.
- Assist and train business partners on system usage and provide support on system functionality.
- Monitor the availability of systems and promptly notify business and technical teams of any outages.
- Address intricate system challenges and prioritize unresolved issues for the relevant technical teams.
- Implement quick fixes to maintain system availability with minimal downtime.
- Analyze, maintain, implement, test, and document system changes and fixes.
- Educate new team members and other teams on business processes and applications.
- Manage the overall workflow, including the distribution of tickets and categorization of work items.

- Offer long-term solutions for recurring problems and streamline repetitive duties.
- Act as a knowledgeable resource on various applications and features to assist business users efficiently.

Qualifications:

- You are a driven individual holding a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree - B.E. / B.Tech / M.S. / M.Tech / MCA degree in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or a related subject area and possessing 5 to 7 years of experience in Mainframe technology. Your expertise enables you to manage intricate system challenges and guide incoming team members.
- You showcase exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, in addition to superb documentation capabilities. Your adept communication and interpersonal skills allow you to thrive within a team setting. You possess strong time management skills and a constructive attitude, demonstrating an interest in continuous learning and a growth mentality. As a standout colleague, you can guide junior team members and manage multiple applications and functionalities.
- You showcase skill in multiple applications and functionalities, and you are keen to rapidly acquire domain expertise. Your robust SQL knowledge and comprehension of databases, coupled with your familiarity with MS Office and SharePoint, remarkable proficiency, and outstanding problem-solving skills, enhance your value to the team. Your interpersonal talents and capability to influence customers are outstanding.
