Job Summary
The ICU Staff Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive, high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients. The role involves continuous patient monitoring, advanced clinical interventions, collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, and support to patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to critically ill patients in accordance with hospital policies and ICU protocols
- Monitor vital signs, hemodynamic status, and neurological condition of patients
- Operate and manage ICU equipment such as ventilators, infusion pumps, cardiac monitors, and suction devices
- Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and emergency drugs safely and accurately
- Assist physicians during procedures such as intubation, central line insertion, and resuscitation
- Identify changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate nursing interventions promptly
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and clinical observations
- Follow infection control practices and maintain a safe and sterile environment
- Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families
- Participate in handovers, ward rounds, and multidisciplinary team discussions
- Adhere to patient safety, ethical standards, and hospital policies
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Valid Nursing Council/Board registration
- Minimum 1 year of ICU experience (Medical, Surgical, Cardiac, or Mixed ICU)
