Job Description
Job Title: Team Lead– US Payroll
Experience: 9–12 Years
Location: Ambattur, Chennai
Employment Type: Full-Time (Work From Office Only – No Hybrid/WFH)
Shift: Full India Night Shift (Supporting US Clients)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Team Lead– US Payroll to lead and manage our end-to-end US payroll operations. The ideal candidate will have solid expertise in US payroll processes, excellent people management skills, and the ability to handle client and stakeholder communications effectively. This is a Work from Office role and requires candidates who can work in full night shift supporting US clients.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee and manage day-to-day US payroll operations ensuring 100% accuracy and compliance.

Handle end-to-end payroll processes including data input, validation, payroll runs, reconciliation, and reporting.

Lead, mentor, and manage a team of payroll associates; ensure performance, productivity, and process adherence.

Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve payroll issues promptly.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations in the US.

Monitor process efficiency and identify opportunities for improvements and automation.

Prepare payroll reports, dashboards, and documentation as required.

Act as the primary point of contact for client queries, escalations, and operational updates.

Conduct regular reviews, audits, and checks to maintain accuracy and mitigate risks.

Ensure service delivery standards are met as per SLAs and client expectations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
-
13–18 years of hands-on experience in US Payroll operations, with at least 3–5 years in a managerial or leadership role.

Strong knowledge of US payroll laws, tax regulations, compliance, and multi-state payroll processing.

Excellent people management skills with experience leading medium to large teams.

Strong communication skills (verbal and written) to interact with US clients and internal stakeholders.

Ability to manage high-volume payroll operations with tight deadlines.

Strong analytical skills with proficiency in payroll reconciliation and reporting.

Experience working with payroll systems/tools (ADP, Workday, Paychex, or similar) is an advantage.

Detail-oriented, process-driven, and capable of handling escalations effectively.

Willingness to work full India night shift (US time zone).

Communication is mandatory for this role.
