Responsibilities:
Manual Posting and ERA: Handle Electronic Remittances Provide 100% accurate advice and hand post payments from Explanation of Advantages statements.
Contractual Adjustments: Apply "Allowed Amounts," write-offs, and adjustments appropriately in accordance with each insurance carrier's particular contract with the provider.
Denial Identification: Use the appropriate denial codes to identify and classify "Zero-Pay" or "Partial-Pay" claims, then forward them to the AR/Denial Management team.
Co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance payments that are directly received from patients through checks, credit cards, or internet portals should be recorded.
Secondary Billing Triggers:



Make sure the system appropriately initiates secondary or tertiary insurance billing when a first insurance payment is posted.
Daily Reconciliation: At the conclusion of each shift, reconcile the total payments posted against the bank deposit "Batch Total" to make sure there are no disparities.

Required Skills:
EOB/ERA Literacy: Proficiency in deciphering and analyzing intricate financial information from several insurance providers (Medicare, PPOs, HMOs).
High-speed alphanumeric typing abilities with an emphasis on "Ten-Key" numeric pad precision constitute data entry speed.
Fundamental knowledge of debits, credits, and how modifications affect the overall amount of accounts receivable is known as accounting principles.
The ability to identify small differences between the "Billed Amount" and the "Allowed Amount" that can point to a billing problem.
Software Proficiency: MS Excel and medical billing software experience.
