Title: Vessel Manager (Commercial Operations of oil tankers)

Office: Chennai

Reports to: Regional Operations Manager/ Head of Operations

Core main function: To oversee the commercial operations for our fleet of tankers, both across spot and time charter

Responsibilities:

Coordination and control of all cargo/voyage information between brokers, masters, agents, and ship owners/managers. To devise and implement the most economical voyage plan consistent with customer, charter party, and regulatory requirements for each assigned ship. Provide other operational functions as required by team.

Duties:

Respond to the chartering department providing input/data necessary for potential fixtures (i.e. prepare questionnaires; provide intakes and ETA’s, etc.). Manage the ship’s commercial trading through voyage planning consistent with port/terminal and regulatory restrictions. Review and provide Master with appropriate voyage orders, port information, and any applicable restrictions within the port.



Ensure that the ship and voyage operations are in compliance with operational aspects of the voyage charter parties. Authorize ship’s cargo capability and capacity Coordinate bunker planning in the most cost and time productive manner Review stow-plans to ensure optimization of cargo intakes where applicable, whilst assisting the Chartering Department for time critical pre-fixture tasks Ensure invoices are generated accurately and timely as required. Ensure that ship owner and ship comply with operational aspects of time charter parties as appropriate. Develop and implement timely solutions to cargo and voyage-related trading issues.

Competencies: Minimum 3 years commercial experience of tankers pertaining to owners/operator’s side of commercial operations. Seafaring background from deck side preferable but it is not a prerequisite for this position. Must have knowledge of day to day working of oil tankers and cargoes.
