Drillo's Client is building AI tools for architecture and design coordination. We are looking for a highly capable Domain Engineer / Architectural Subject Matter Expert to work directly alongside our AI engineering team and help translate architectural practice into product logic.

This person will serve as the architectural brain within the product development process — teaching engineers how architects think, reviewing model behavior and outputs, and ensuring the system produces guidance, terminology, and deliverables that align with the expectations of U.S.-based architectural practice.

The right candidate is not only a strong architect, but also someone who can think systematically about how architectural knowledge gets translated into repeatable rules, workflows, QA standards, and product improvements.

Key Responsibilities

- Work closely with AI engineers to translate real-world architectural workflows, decision-making, and coordination logic into product behavior
- Teach the engineering team how architects think across design, documentation, consultant coordination, and drawing production
- Review, validate, and improve AI outputs to ensure they reflect professional architectural language, expected nomenclature, and practical standards used by U.S.-based architects
- Help define how the system should handle outputs across concept design, schematic design, design development, and construction documentation
- Ensure that architectural guidance generated by the platform is accurate, usable, and aligned with real project delivery expectations
- Identify outputs that may be technically plausible but do not reflect how architects actually communicate, document, or coordinate
- Support the development of domain logic, training structures, QA workflows, and review standards that improve system reliability

- Evaluate how architecture integrates with structural and MEP systems, and help improve coordination logic across disciplines
- Work with senior staff to receive direction, prioritize issues, and implement fixes into the system accurately and efficiently
- Collaborate across product, engineering, and domain teams to improve platform quality and usability
- Help shape a system that architects can trust in both language and technical reasoning

Required Qualifications

- Degree in Architecture required
- Minimum 8 years of skilled architectural experience
- Required experience in residential and mixed-use projects ; broader exposure to additional product types preferred
- Hands-on involvement across the full architectural design stack , including:
- Concept design
- Schematic design
- Design development
- Construction drawings / construction documentation
- Strong experience coordinating with structural and MEP consultants , including integrating and overlaying consultant information into the architectural design and drawing set
- Strong working knowledge of:
- SketchUp
- ArchiCAD
- AutoCAD
- Revit
- Other BIM and modeling tools
- Previous experience working on U.S.-based architecture projects is required
- Deep knowledge of architectural terminology, drawing standards, and documentation conventions
- Strong understanding of drawing set organization, sheet logic, and annotation standards
- Strong spoken and written English communication skills

- Ability to communicate clearly with senior leadership and technical teams
- Ability to take direction, implement changes, and work in a fast-moving environment
- Must be able to work full-time during U.S. East Coast hours

Preferred Qualifications

- Strong interest in AI and enthusiasm for working with AI-native tools and workflows
- Ability to confidently correct model outputs and explain why they are wrong or incomplete
- Ability to distinguish between design intent and documentation detail , and understand how each should be represented in system outputs
- Familiarity with common consultant coordination pain points and multidisciplinary workflow challenges
- Ability to think systematically — not just as a designer, but as someone translating architectural practice into repeatable product logic
- Experience in QA, drawing review, technical review, or senior project coordination roles
- Comfort working between product, engineering, and domain teams
- Exposure to U.S. codes, standards, and common documentation expectations is highly valuable
- Strong attention to detail and a high bar for professional accuracy
- Ability to recognize when outputs are formally correct but still do not sound, read, or function like something an architect would produce

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means helping Client produce outputs that reflect the real logic, language, and coordination structure of architectural practice. You will play a central role in making sure the platform is not only technically capable, but also architecturally credible.

You should be excited by the idea of helping engineers understand architecture more deeply — and helping AI systems produce work that feels aligned with how architects actually design, document, and communicate.
