Role Overview:

The Wire Cut (EDM) Operator is responsible for setting up, programming, operating, and

maintaining Wire Cut EDM machines to manufacture high-precision components, molds, dies,

and tooling as per drawings and specifications, ensuring quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

1. Wire Cut EDM Operations

 Operate Wire Cut EDM machines to manufacture precision components, punches, dies,

molds, and inserts.

 Program, edit, and optimize CNC wire cut programs as per drawings and job

requirements.

 Select appropriate wire, dielectric/flushing parameters, and cutting conditions for

different materials.

 Monitor machining operations to achieve required dimensional accuracy and surface

finish.

2. Machine Setup & Programming

 Set up workpieces, fixtures, reference points, and zero settings on Wire Cut EDM

machines.

 Load, modify, and troubleshoot CNC programs.





 Adjust parameters such as wire tension, feed rate, voltage, pulse settings, and flushing

pressure.

 Conduct trial cuts and fine-tune programs to meet tight tolerances.

3. Quality Inspection

 Read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T; symbols, and specifications.

 Inspect machined components using precision measuring instruments such as verniers,

micrometers, height gauges, dial indicators, and profile projectors.

 Ensure finished parts meet dimensional and quality requirements.

 Maintain inspection and job records for traceability.

4. Documentation & Compliance

 Follow SOPs and work instructions related to wire cut operations.

 Maintain documentation for job parameters, machine usage, maintenance, and calibration

records.

 Ensure compliance with GMP, ISO standards, and applicable safety regulations.

 Report deviations, non-conformances, or machine/tool issues to Engineering or Quality

departments.

5. Preventive Maintenance

 Perform routine and preventive maintenance of Wire Cut EDM machines.

 Replace consumables such as wire, filters, and dielectric fluids as required.

 Identify abnormalities and coordinate with maintenance teams for corrective actions.

6. Safety & Housekeeping

 Maintain cleanliness and organization in the wire cut area and tool room.

 Use PPE and follow all safety protocols.

 Handle materials, wires, and consumables safely to avoid damage or contamination.





 Follow safety and contamination control guidelines applicable to medical device

manufacturing environments.

7. Continuous Improvement & Support

 Suggest improvements to programs, cutting strategies, and processes to improve

productivity and accuracy.

 Support initiatives to reduce cycle time, scrap, and rework.

 Coordinate with Tool Room, Production, and Engineering teams to meet production and

project timelines.

 Guide or assist junior operators when required.

Qualifications & Skills

 ITI / Diploma in Tool & Die Making, Machining, or a related field.

 Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in Wire Cut EDM operations.

 Strong knowledge of CNC programming, wire cut parameters, and tooling.

 Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T.;

 Proficiency in using precision measuring and inspection instruments.

 Familiarity with GMP, ISO standards, and industrial safety practices (preferred).

Salary Budget

 ₹25,000 per month (Gross)(Negotiable based on experience and skill level)
