At Uptime Crew, the role of Engineering Manager is a bridge between recruiting and training teams. The Engineering Manager is an integral partner in the Training Organization by implementing and executing training activities; and building employee expertise while ensuring they have great experience during their selection process and training.

Responsibilities Include...

n

Engineering Management & Leadership

n

Directly lead, coach, and manage multiple software engineering teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.

n

- Serve as the first-line manager, managing team schedules and performance.
- Define high engineering standards, best practices, architecture, and design patterns for team adherence and quality assurance.
- Provide in-depth technical feedback on tech stacks, integration, and design patterns to accelerate candidate development without contributing code to the codebase.

Capstone Project Ownership (Technical Product Management)

n

Act as the Technical Product Owner, defining the Capstone Project vision, strategy, and technical objectives.

n

- Translate program requirements and learning objectives into detailed user stories, prioritize features, and define technical and non-functional requirements (e.g., scalability).
- Drive end-to-end delivery, identify technical tradeoffs,



eliminate blocking issues, and manage execution across cross-functional teams.

n

Consultant Recruitment & Delivery

n

Conduct high-validity technical screening interviews and in-depth evaluations to assess candidate proficiency and potential throughout the training lifecycle

n

- Facilitate and manage the end-to-end Consultant delivery process, ensuring quality preparation and efficient workflow.
- Participate in special projects/tasks as assigned.

n

Basic Qualifications

n

- BS/MS in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of professional technical experience.
- 2+ years of (people) management experience.
- 2+ years of experience managing multi-functional.full-stack engineering teams, including overseeing technical mentorship and providing performance feedback
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to influence across job levels.
- Deep understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), methodologies, and best practices, particularly Agile principles.

Preferred Qualifications

n

- 6+ years of hands-on professional experience in software development and operations using technologies such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or DevSecOps.
- Robust architecture and system design sense, with demonstrated experience developing frameworks and APIs and a strong commitment to quality and attention to detail.
- Ability to deep-dive into tech stacks, integration, and design patterns to provide expert guidance and technical feedback to accelerate candidate development.
- Proven ability to thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments where goals and requirements are constantly evolving.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills to effectively interface with multi-functional teams on topics including product requirements, system architecture, and project schedules.
- Demonstrable commitment to fostering a growth mindset and driving continuous self-improvement, acting as a leader by example.
- Experience in a start-up or academic environment is a plus!
