Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL) is a greenfield venture of the Tata Group with expertise in manufacturing precision components.
Tata Electronics (a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons Pvt. Ltd.) is building India’s first AI-enabled state-of-the-art Semiconductor Foundry. Position Summary
Tata Electronics is building India’s first AI-enabled commercial wafer fabrication facility. We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Strategic Supplier Account General Manager to lead enterprise-level relationships with key suppliers of front-end semiconductor process equipment.
This role is critical to ensuring timely tool availability, competitive commercial terms, alignment on long-term equipment roadmap, and deep strategic collaboration with equipment suppliers. The Account GM will define and execute supplier strategies in a greenfield fab environment, lead high-value commercial negotiations, build equipment procurement roadmaps, and ensure sustained alignment between supplier capabilities and fab ramp, yield, and capacity expansion goals.
The role works closely with Supply Chain, Procurement, Process and Equipment Engineering, Finance, and senior leadership to drive cost optimization, supply assurance, risk mitigation, and long-term value creation from strategic supplier partnerships.
The ideal candidate combines deep semiconductor industry expertise, strong commercial judgment, and the ability to influence at executive levels in a fast-paced big scale startup workplace.
Key Deliverables
Supplier Strategy & Account Management
Own and manage enterprise-level relationships with assigned strategic semiconductor equipment suppliers.
Build trusted relationships across supplier organizations, including sales, engineering, service, supply chain, and executive leadership.
Define and execute supplier strategies aligned with business priorities, fab ramp plans, and long-term technology objectives.
Apply analytical tools for cost analysis, supplier performance measurement, risk assessment, and scorecard management.
Consolidate equipment demand across modules and fabs to maximize commercial leverage and operational efficiency.
Lead Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) initiatives focused on supply assurance, cost efficiency, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement.
Establish structured mechanisms for internal stakeholders to provide feedback on supplier performance and drive data-backed improvement actions.
Commercial & Contractual Leadership
Lead commercial negotiations for Master Purchase Agreements (MPAs), Long-Term Agreements (LTAs), Service Agreements, spares, and other strategic contracts.
Structure multi-year, multi-tool, and roadmap-based commercial agreements aligned with startup cash-flow and ramp needs.
Secure favorable pricing, payment terms, delivery commitments, warranties, and service-level agreements.
Optimize total cost of ownership through pricing, volume commitments, service terms, and lifecycle cost structures.
Partner with strategic sourcing and finance teams on cost modelling, benchmarking, and should-cost analysis.
Demonstrate expertise in financial modelling and complex commercial negotiations involving high-value capital equipment.
Capacity & Risk Management
Aggregate and validate equipment demand forecasts across organizations, sites, and manufacturing programs.
Secure supplier capacity commitments and prioritize allocation of constrained and long lead-time tools.
Identify and mitigate supply risks, including single-source dependencies, capacity constraints, and extended lead times.
Collaborate with technical sourcing, industrial engineering, production planning, and logistics teams to align sourcing strategies with operational requirements.
Monitor supplier health, market dynamics, and industry trends to proactively address emerging supply chain risks.
Technical & Roadmap Alignment
Align supplier technology roadmaps with internal process development, node transitions, and fab expansion plans.
Support strategic equipment sourcing decisions,
including new tool purchases, upgrades, refurbishments, and lifecycle extensions.
Track industry trends, competitive developments, and supplier innovation to inform long-term sourcing and capacity strategies.
Drive collaboration between equipment/process engineering teams and suppliers to ensure tool configurations, upgrades, and improvement programs meet performance, yield, and reliability requirements.
Executive Engagement & Governance
Serve as the primary executive interface between the fab and key OEM partners.
Drive executive-level engagement to strengthen partnerships and deliver long-term strategic value.
Lead Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and formal supplier governance forums.
Manage escalations related to critical supply, quality, capacity, and commercial issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal business impact
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Materials, Mechanical, Chemical, or related discipline); MBA preferred OR Degree in Supply Chain or Business with strong technical understanding of semiconductor manufacturing
Experience
10+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, semiconductor equipment suppliers (OEMs), or strategic account management.
Experience with leading semiconductor equipment companies or global IDMs/foundries.
Proven success in strategic account management, complex negotiations, and cross-functional leadership within the semiconductor ecosystem.
Experience with fab startup, capacity expansion, or high-volume manufacturing strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of front-end fab operations, equipment platforms, and semiconductor manufacturing economics.
Preferred Skills
In-depth understanding of front-end processes including lithography, etch, deposition, and metrology/inspection.
Experience engaging senior and executive-level supplier leadership.
Ability to operate effectively across geographies, cultures, and global business environments.
Strong stakeholder management and leadership capabilities.
