Job Description



Bachelors in engineering or equivalent Responsibility:

Solution Building :

Understand the application architecture and its criticality.

Validate the gathered requirements.

Identify the solution (process/methodology/tool) offerings to meet the client's requirements.

Understand the feasibility in terms of resources, tools, skill sets.

Analyse and assess tools (internal/external) on specific parameters.

Identify business value from emerging tools/trends.

Support Sr Architect in drafting recommendations based on findings of Proof Of Concept.

Specific to PACE, Cloud, Mobile & Automation.

Based on the understanding of client requirements,

conceptualize solutions in collaboration with the Sr Architect.

Specific to QE & Automation.

Design and create Pilot for a new/ existing technology to understand the feasibility in terms of potential risk areas, scope for application, degree of reusability, etc.

Business and Technology Research and Analysis :

Analyse the market trends and identify the new ideas (eg methodologies, frameworks, accelerators etc ).

Analyse technical feasibility of the same through POC.

Document the new ideas (eg report, white paper, national/ international publications).

Create solution focused material.

Specific to Data Testing.

Create and refine documentation appropriate to project needs.

Leverage existing material, create and update knowledge artefacts.

External Forum Participation :

Participate in external forums (seminars, paper presentation, innovation showcase etc) to showcase Cognizant capabilities and insights emerging from the COE research.

Communicate new solutions through various portals / channels (webinars, portals, road shows).

Patent Filing :

Document all the components of the new concept (including the h/w, s/w requirements, nutshell, design, plan ).

Understand the patent filing guideline.

Present the new concept to the legal and security team (Global Information Security team).

Solution Socialization and Organization Wide Capability :

Create collaterals (eg case study, business value documents, summary etc) based on technical recommendation, Provide inputs to BD team and other teams for training etc Communicate the new solutions through various portals / channels (webinars, portals, road shows).

Conduct knowledge transfer sessions including experience sharing of the project with the other.

Organize the boot camp training for the new recruits.

Identify the training needs and conduct internal sessions/workshops (on methodologies, tools, solution offering, domain perspective etc) to meet the same.

Partner with Cognizant academy to create curriculum, assessments etc.

Nominate the team members for external training and conferences.

Participate in the research of new technologies ie IT enablement for Cognizant.

Design :

Design test scenarios based on the understanding of the requirement.

Review test strategy created by the test lead.

Review test cases prepared by the test analyst.

Create test strategy for large complex projects.

Analysis of the multiple application layers and conduct root issue cause analysis to identify the issue.

Review application architecture and design for performance/scalability issues.

Specific to Data Testing.

Create test cases of varied complexity aligned to business requirements.

Identify the test data and environment availability based on the understanding of the requirements.

Recommendation :

Analyse the data collected to identify specific issues / points which have to be shared with the clients based on correlation or root cause analysis.

Identify the technical solution for the same.

Perform gap analysis in order to deliver outputs as per the expected standards.

Specific to PACE & Cloud.

Conduct research and recommend test strategy and testing solutions based on the understanding of customer business requirements.

Customer Visit Management :

Support the Architect in identification of the right assets (eg demo, paper , tool etc) based on the evaluation of different demo products.

Identify solution offerings or case studies relevant to the client need.

Support Sr Architect in identification of the best practices adopted by Cognizant to showcase to the client.

Update tools/demo to match the client needs.

Consulting :

Understand the long term opportunity with the client through various questionnaire.

Create documents (eg preconsulting deck, recommendation deck etc).

Analyse technology landscape, process, tools.

In collaboration with Architect arrive at the technology roadmap best fit for the client.

Seek review from the relevant stakeholders on the same.

Specific to QE & Automation.

Understand the client standards.

Identify best practices.

Conduct audit and report findings.

Alliance Management :

Identify alliance partners based on the understanding of service offerings and client requirements.

In collaboration with Architect, create a compelling business case around the offerings.

Identify the value adds due to alliances.

Understand the offerings and conduct beta testing of the offerings.

Understand the route map of the product offering.

Specific to QE & Automation.

Identify and shortlist vendors based on the identified parameters.

Project Management :

Review the status update of the teams.

On the basis of requirements, identify the estimation and resource planning.

Review daily / weekly metrics on schedule.

Share metrics / SLA reports, status report with customer.

Specific to Data Testing.

For simple, small or mid sized projects:

Review the status update of the teams.

On the basis of requirements, identify the estimation and resource planning.

Review daily / weekly metrics on schedule.

Share metrics / SLA reports, status report with customer.

Develop communication protocols, escalation matrix, reporting mechanisms.

Identify risk and mitigation strategies.

People Management :

Engage with new members and induct them into teams / projects.

Coach and mentor the test analyst.

Set goals, gather feedback from team members and conduct appraisals.

Identify training needs and nominate employees for selective programs.

Draft career plans for direct report.
