Hiring | Senior Woven Textile Designer | Panipat
We make handcrafted home textiles for buyers in the US and Europe. We have a weaving operation in Panipat and we need a senior designer to lead it.
This is a floor job as much as it is a design job. Some days you are setting up a loom. Some days you are reviewing samples. Most days both.
You will manage a small team of 4 to 5 weavers and report directly to the head of the company.
What you will do every day:
You will read a buyer brief and figure out how to build it. What yarn on the warp. What yarn in the weft. Which loom. Which construction. You will set up and run both frame loom and pit loom. You will catch quality problems before they become bigger problems. You will keep a clean and organised sample library. You will know your suppliers, your dyers, your finishing units in Panipat and you will use those relationships to get the right materials at the right time.
What we need you to know:
TANA — the warp. You can pick the right warp yarn for any job. Cotton, wool, jute, linen or blends — you know how each one behaves on the loom. You know how tight or loose a warp should be for a given construction. You know how to dress a loom correctly and you can spot a bad warp before the first pick goes in.
BANA — the weft. You understand how the weft builds the fabric. You know how picks per inch, yarn weight and material choice affect the final feel and weight of the product. You can look at a target handle or a target GSM and work backwards to figure out the right weft spec.
Loom setup. You can set up a pit loom and a frame loom from scratch. Reed selection, heddle arrangement, tie-up draft, treadle sequence — you know all of it. When something goes wrong mid-weave you fix it yourself. Broken picks, weft bowing, uneven selvedges,

bad beat — you have seen all of these and you know exactly what to do.
Weave structures. Plain weave, twill, basket weave, tapestry, soumak, kilim — you know these by hand not just by name. You can look at a physical sample and tell someone what the construction is without sending it to a lab.
Colour and design . You have worked with Pantone TCX references and built dye specs from them. You know that colour looks different in a woven fabric than it does on a paper swatch and you account for that when approving samples.
Sourcing. You know Panipat. You have relationships with yarn suppliers, dyers and finishing units built over years of working here. When you need something specific you know exactly who to call.
Who we are looking for:
Someone who has been doing this for 5 to 10 years and knows the craft deeply. Someone who notices a bad selvedge before anyone else does. Someone who earns their team's respect by knowing more than everyone else in the room. Someone who is ready for a role where their knowledge and their network are truly valued.
Location : Panipat, Haryana. Full time, on site. Experience: 5 to 10 years in woven textile design and product development. Salary: Competitive and reliable.
To apply fill this form. It takes 5 minutes: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfEHyKsD5ujkDbKpB5LKxng08TG4ARIpeXtx_SgZxpeGkcc8g/viewform
Just tell us about your work. What looms. What constructions. What markets. What suppliers. No need for a fancy CV.

If this is not you but you know someone who fits, please share this. The right person for this job is probably on the loom floor right now, not scrolling LinkedIn.
