Role Overview

nAs Team Leader PLC Controls, you will own the full lifecycle of control system design and delivery across R&D; projects. You will architect, develop, commission, and continuously improve PLCbased automation solutions spanning warehouse logistics, ASRS, ecommerce fulfilment, and industrial manufacturing environments. You will lead a team of controls engineers, set the technical direction, and be the bridge between mechanical design, software integration, and customer expectations.n

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Architect PLCbased control systems for complex automation solutions including ASRS, conveyor sortation, AGV/AMR integration, and GTP systems. Define I/O structures, control narratives, and functional specs from mechanical layouts. Design redundant system architectures to ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and zero singlepointoffailure across critical automation lines.
n

- Translate customer requirements from multiple verticals (warehouse, logistics, ecommerce, pharma, F&B;, automotive, packaging) into accurate control architectures.
n
- Write, review, and optimise PLC code across all IEC 611313 languages Ladder Logic (LD), Structured Text (ST), Function Block Diagram (FBD), Instruction List (IL), and Sequential Function Chart (SFC) as well as SCL (Structured Control Language) for Siemens platforms.
n
- Develop reusable modular code libraries and integrate with WMS/WCS layers.
n
- Design and commission servo and drive systems tune dynamic motion profiles, validate performance against spec, and deliver precision positioning in highthroughput environments.
n
- Apply mechanics, dynamics, and applied trigonometry to develop motion profiles and physicsbased control loops. Ensure accuracy, stability, and repeatability at system level.
n
- Own fault diagnosis during commissioning and postdeployment. Use 5Why, FMEA, PLC log analysis, and systematic RCA to resolve issues fast — especially in live warehouse environments.
n
- Work closely with mechanical teams to ensure perfect synchronisation between physical systems and control logic. Catch design conflicts early. Participate in design reviews.
n
- Actively use AI tools (code generation, fault diagnosis, documentation, simulation) to accelerate R&D; output.

Drive AI adoption within the controls team.
n
- Stay ahead of where automation is going — not just where it is today. Modern PLCs support multiple programming languages, open standards (OPCUA, MQTT, edge computing), and are converging with cloud, digital twins, and AI inference at the controller level. Evaluate emerging platforms proactively and guide the team toward architectures that won’t be obsolete in five years.
n
- Lead FAT/SAT testing, create test protocols, ensure compliance with IEC, ISO, and safety standards (IEC 62061 / ISO 13849). Maintain a zerodefect mindset from day one.
n
