Role Description The Assistant Manager role at Tata Steel is a full-time, on-site position based in Bhuban.

The Assistant

Manager will support daily plant operations, oversee assigned production or maintenance activities, and ensure adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards. This role includes coordinating with cross-functional teams, monitoring performance metrics, and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability.

analyze operational data, and assist in planning resources, schedules, and budgets. The position also involves guiding frontline team members, supporting their development, and ensuring clear communication of goals, procedures, and performance expectations.

Qualifications

- Strong operational and production management capabilities, including experience in coordinating plant activities, monitoring KPIs, and driving process improvements.
- Solid understanding of safety, quality, and environmental standards, with the ability to implement and enforce compliance across teams.
- Proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and use of digital tools or ERP systems to support decision-making and performance tracking.
- Effective people management, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills to work with cross-functional and frontline teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Electrical, Production, or Industrial Engineering (or a related technical field); a postgraduate qualification in operations or management is an advantage.
- Experience in steel, metals, mining, or heavy manufacturing is preferred; exposure to continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, TPM) is beneficial.
- Ability to work on-site in Bhuban in a shift or rotational schedule as required, with a focus on integrity, accountability, and a safety-first mindset.
