Assistant Manager – Labour Compliance & Industrial Relations
Location: Chennai
Travel: Pan-India across operational locations

About SAM Group
SAM Group is a diversified logistics organization engaged in cargo handling, warehousing, freight forwarding, transportation, inventory management and allied logistics services across multiple locations in India.
We are looking for a energetic and hands-on professional to strengthen our Labour Compliance, Industrial Relations and Workforce Governance functions across our operations.
Key Responsibilities Labour Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable Labour Laws, Labour Codes, Rules and Statutory Requirements.
- Maintain and monitor statutory registers, records and returns.
- Review and standardize appointment letters, policies, attendance records, wage records and compliance documentation.
- Coordinate with labour authorities, consultants and legal advisors on compliance matters.
- Conduct periodic compliance audits across operational locations.
Industrial Relations
- Support management in handling industrial relations matters and workforce issues.
- Coordinate with unions, contractors and employee representatives.
- Assist in drafting notices, warning letters, charge sheets and disciplinary documentation.
- Maintain records related to settlements, disputes and disciplinary proceedings.
- Support domestic enquiries and employee grievance handling processes.
Attendance & Workforce Governance
- Monitor employee attendance, deployment and workforce productivity.
- Implement systems for attendance control, shift management and manpower monitoring.
- Maintain employee records and statutory documentation.
- Support operational teams in implementing discipline and workforce control measures.
Documentation & Audit
- Prepare documentation required for client audits, statutory inspections and internal reviews.
- Ensure all labour-related records are updated and readily available for verification.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, compliance checklists and workforce governance procedures.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Operations, Accounts, HR and Management teams.
- Provide periodic reports on compliance status, labour issues and workforce performance.
- Travel to operational locations as required.
Desired Candidate Profile Experience
- 5 to 8 years of experience in Labour Compliance, Industrial Relations, Statutory HR or Workforce Administration.
- Experience in Logistics, Warehousing, Ports, CFS, ICD, Manufacturing or Labour-Intensive Operations preferred.

- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR documentation systems.
