Motor Insurance / Agency Sales

Job Summary

Business Head is responsible for leading and expanding the motor insurance agency distribution business across regions. The role focuses on agency recruitment, activation, productivity management, premium growth, profitability, renewals, and channel development for motor insurance products including private car, two-wheeler, commercial vehicle, and fleet insurance. The position requires strong expertise in agency channel management, sales leadership, motor insurance operations, and strategic business expansion.

Key Responsibilities

Agency Channel Development

- Build and expand the motor insurance agency network across assigned geographies. • Recruit, train, and activate insurance advisors, POS agents, and agency partners.
- Develop long-term relationships with key agency leaders and channel partners.
- Drive agency productivity and retention. Business Growth & Sales
- Achieve motor insurance premium targets through agency channels.
- Drive current business acquisition and policy renewals.
- Increase market penetration in motor insurance products.
- Identify new growth opportunities in retail and SME motor segments.

Agency Performance Management

- Monitor branch-wise and agent-wise business performance.
- Track conversion ratios, policy issuance, and renewal percentages.
- Implement sales contests, incentive programs, and productivity initiatives.
- Ensure achievement of monthly, quarterly, and annual KPIs.

Training & Capability Building





- Conduct regular product and sales training for agents and sales managers.
- Improve agent capability in:
- Motor insurance products
- Claims processes
- Customer handling
- Cross-selling opportunities
- Support field teams through coaching and mentoring.

Product & Market Strategy

- Coordinate with underwriting and product teams for competitive motor products.
- Provide market intelligence and competitor analysis.
- Recommend pricing and promotional strategies based on market trends.

Customer & Claims Support

- Ensure smooth customer onboarding and servicing.
- Coordinate with claims teams for faster claims resolution.
- Support agencies in handling escalated customer issues.

Compliance & Operations

- Ensure compliance with IRDAI regulations and internal company policies.
- Maintain proper documentation and audit readiness.
- Improve operational efficiency and turnaround times.

Financial & Business Reporting

- Monitor:
- Gross Written Premium (GWP)
- Agency productivity
- Renewal ratio
- Loss ratio
- Persistency
- Revenue per advisor
- Prepare MIS reports and business forecasts for management review.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or Insurance.
- MBA preferred.
- Insurance certifications preferred. Experience Requirements
- 10–15+ years in general insurance sales.
- Strong experience in agency recruitment and distribution expansion.
- Proven leadership experience managing large sales teams.
