We are expanding our diagnostic services across Chennai and are seeking skilled Blood Collection Technicians (Phlebotomists) to join our growing team.
Position Summary
The Blood Collection Technician / Phlebotomist is responsible for safely collecting blood and other specimens from patients at homes, offices, corporate sites, and healthcare facilities while ensuring exceptional patient experience, specimen integrity, and compliance with healthcare standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesBlood Collection & Patient Care
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures.
- Collect blood samples from adults, pediatric patients, and elderly patients.
- Verify patient identity before specimen collection.
- Explain procedures and address patient concerns professionally.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the collection process.
- Handle difficult blood draws with confidence and professionalism.
Sample Management
- Label specimens accurately using company protocols.
- Verify test requisitions and collection requirements.
- Ensure proper sample storage and transportation.
- Maintain specimen integrity during transit.
- Follow chain-of-custody procedures when applicable.
- Package samples according to laboratory requirements.
Infection Control & Safety
- Follow infection prevention and control guidelines.
- Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Adhere to sharps disposal procedures.
- Follow biomedical waste management protocols.
- Report incidents, exposures, or safety concerns immediately.
Mobile Operations
- Travel to patient homes, offices, and healthcare facilities.
- Use GIRAH Care mobile applications for:
- Appointment management
- Order tracking
- Barcode scanning
- Patient verification
- Documentation
- Maintain collection kits and supplies.
Quality & Compliance
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory and healthcare standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Attend training and competency assessments as required.
Educational QualificationsRequired
- DMLT (Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology)
Preferred
- BMLT (Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Technology)
- B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology
- Equivalent recognized laboratory qualification
Experience RequirementsJunior Blood Collection Technician
- Fresher to 1 year experience
- Clinical internship experience acceptable
Blood Collection Technician
- 1–3 years of blood collection experience
- Experience in diagnostic laboratory or home collection services preferred
Senior Blood Collection Technician
- 3+ years of blood collection experience
- Experience handling difficult venipuncture cases
- Experience mentoring junior staff preferred
