Electrical Design Engineer Intern (PLS-CADD)

Location: Hyderabad (On-site)

About the Role

Spatial Alphabet is looking for motivated and technically driven Electrical Design Engineer Interns to support transmission and distribution engineering projects focused on overhead power line systems.

This internship offers hands-on exposure to real-world utility and infrastructure projects involving:

- Transmission line electrical design
- PLS-CADD modeling and analysis
- Power systems engineering support
- Line routing and optimization
- Utility-scale transmission projects
- Engineering design documentation

Interns will work closely with experienced engineers and project teams on live transmission and distribution engineering assignments, gaining practical exposure to industry-standard workflows and utility engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist in developing and maintaining PLS-CADD models for transmission and distribution lines
- Support electrical design activities including conductor selection, line configuration, and clearance analysis
- Perform sag-tension studies and basic transmission line calculations
- Support route alignment, terrain modeling, and profile generation
- Assist in structure spotting and line optimization activities
- Help prepare engineering drawings, design packages, and construction documentation
- Work with survey data, utility standards, and engineering specifications
- Assist senior engineers in design validation, technical coordination, and project execution
- Ensure compliance with utility engineering standards and client requirements
- Coordinate with CAD, design, and engineering teams for project delivery

Required Skills

- Basic understanding of Electrical Engineering fundamentals
- Interest in power systems, transmission lines,



and utility engineering
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or engineering drafting tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to quickly learn engineering software and workflows
- Good communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Skills

- Exposure to PLS-CADD (Preferred)
- Familiarity with PLS-POLE or PLS-TOWER is an advantage
- Basic understanding of transmission line design principles
- Knowledge of sag-tension, conductor clearances, and line profiling concepts
- Understanding of engineering drawings and survey data
- Familiarity with NESC, ASCE, or utility engineering standards
- Basic knowledge of Python, scripting, or CAD automation is a plus

Eligibility

BE / BTech / Diploma in:

- Electrical Engineering
- Electrical & Electronics Engineering
- Power Systems Engineering
- Related Engineering disciplines
