- A Clinical Research Assistant (CRA) or Clinical Trial Assistant (CTA) provides essential administrative, operational, and documentation support to clinical research coordinators and principal investigators. They facilitate successful trial operations by handling patient screening, data management, regulatory compliance, and day-to-day study logistics.
- Key Responsibilities
- Participant Management: Pre-screen potential study subjects, explain study steps, schedule patient visits, and ensure subjects attend appointments.
- Data Entry: Transfer patient information and clinical findings from source documents into Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems accurately and confidentially.
- Regulatory & Documentation Support: Organize and maintain study binders, Trial Master Files (TMF), and handle necessary paperwork while ensuring strict adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and institutional SOPs.
- Lab Duties: If medically trained or certified,



process, package, and ship biosample labs; some assistants also perform phlebotomy and record vital signs.
- Team Liaison: Serve as a bridge between patients, medical staff, study sponsors, and regulatory agencies.
- Core Requirements
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, nursing, public health, or a related healthcare field is typically required.
- Skills: Solid data entry capabilities, meticulous attention to detail, proficiency in Microsoft Office/data systems, and excellent interpersonal communication.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with GCP guidelines, FDA regulations, and IRB protocols is highly valued.
