Role Summary

This role is responsible for leading and coordinating all regulatory engagement activities, ensuring timely and accurate responses to regulatory examinations while maintaining strong and constructive relationships with key regulators. The incumbent will drive a structured regulatory engagement plan, acting as a central point of coordination to ensure the bank consistently meets in-country regulatory expectations as well as Group compliance standards. A key focus is to uphold robust compliance with CFCR (Conduct, Financial Crime & Compliance Risk) policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with both local regulatory requirements and global governance frameworks.

In addition, the role will lead and manage CFCR governance for SCB India, while providing oversight across affiliated entities, ensuring consistent standards and effective risk management practices. Partnering closely with the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO), the individual will support the development and execution of the country’s CFCR strategy, driving strategic initiatives and governance excellence to strengthen the overall compliance framework and regulatory standing of the organisation.

Role Responsibilities

Strategy & Business

Lead regulatory engagement and maintain strong relationships with regulators
Coordinate regulatory examinations and ensure timely, accurate responses
Ensure compliance with local regulatory expectations and Group requirements
Support the CCO in setting and delivering CFCR strategy and priorities
Lead and manage CFCR governance across the organisation
Oversee regulatory change management and ensure timely implementation
Provide regulatory advice, risk insights, and enable informed decision-making across stakeholders

Processes & Governance

Provide updates on CFCR matters to governance committees and Head Office, including policy approvals
Maintain up-to-date CFCR policies and processes aligned with regulatory requirements
Manage regulatory relationships and deliver on engagement commitments
Prepare for regulatory inspections and coordinate responses with the business
Oversee implementation of CFCR policies across the Bank and affiliated entities
Advise stakeholders on regulatory requirements, Group standards, and compliance matters
Monitor regulatory developments and assess business impact
Ensure timely regulatory reporting, licensing, and administration
Identify, escalate, and manage regulatory risks, breaches, and remediation actions
Support governance, audits, and CFCR initiatives, including reporting, QA standards, and issue tracking

Risk Management, Regulatory & Business Conduct

Track and ensure delivery of regulatory commitments and risk mitigation plans




Apply Group and CFCR policies to effectively manage risk
Recommend and implement actions to address identified risks and investigation findings
Escalate serious breaches and drive timely remediation or cessation of activities
Conduct country-level risk assessments and support annual compliance risk reviews (AML, ABC, Sanctions)
Provide insights to refine risk methodologies across clients, products, and geographies
Promote strong risk, conduct, and compliance culture aligned with the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct
Collaborate with stakeholders to identify, escalate, and resolve risk and regulatory matters

People & Talent

Lead, coach, and develop direct reports, drive engagement, and performance.
Embed openness, trust, and risk awareness; set expectations for compliant conduct.
Drive planning, prioritisation, and deadline discipline; simplify workflows; promote inclusive collaboration.
Ensure training, supervision, and competency for critical roles; maintain skills/qualification coverage.
Clarify roles and accountabilities via accurate s.
Role-model culture and values; partner with risk and control teams.
Hire, retain and succession-plan for critical roles; manage structure and capacity.
Set team objectives and priorities; drive proactive cross-functional delivery of in-country CFCR risk outcomes.

Internal: Regional CFCR teams; Group CFCR; Business Stakeholders; Group Internal Audit; etc
External: RBI; Auditors
Role Requirements
University postgraduate and / or a professional qualification.
Extensive relevant work experience in banking industry, preferably in 2LOD or 3LOD
Strong exposure in the Compliance function with proven experience in regulatory engagement, compliance, or CFCR functions within a banking or financial services environment
Deep understanding of Conduct, Financial Crime, and Compliance Risk (CFCR), including governance, policies, and risk management practices
Demonstrated ability to manage regulatory relationships, coordinate inspections, and deliver high-quality regulatory responses under tight timelines
Strong knowledge of local regulatory requirements and ability to interpret and apply Group standards across complex organisational structures
Experience in leading governance frameworks, including policy management, risk escalation, reporting, and committee engagement
Solid track record in managing regulatory change, assessing business impact, and ensuring effective implementation across stakeholders
Strong risk assessment and analytical capabilities, with the ability to identify emerging risks, trends, and appropriate mitigating actions
Excellent stakeholder management skills,



with the ability to influence senior leadership and collaborate across business, risk, and control functions
Proven leadership experience in building, managing, and developing high-performing teams, with a focus on accountability, performance, and culture
High standards of integrity and professionalism, with a strong commitment to regulatory compliance, ethical conduct, and the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct
