The Role
We're hiring a Junior Furniture Designer to support the design process end-to-end, from client briefs to manufacturing handoff. You'll work closely with the founders, assist on drawings, quotations and material selections, and get direct exposure to client conversations and site visits.
Roles and Responsibilities
Design and Documentation
Assist in translating client briefs into furniture design concepts, mood boards, and material presentations
Prepare working drawings and specifications for manufacturing partners (AutoCAD / SketchUp or equivalent), under guidance
Help maintain design documentation through revisions
Support review of samples, finishes, and prototypes against design intent
Client Support
Assist in client consultations at the showroom or client sites
Help prepare and refine concept presentations
Learn to manage client expectations on timelines and customisation scope under supervision
Project Coordination
Support coordination with manufacturing partners and vendors on schedules and quality checks
Accompany site visits to assess spatial requirements and observe installations
Work closely with the founders on day-to-day project execution
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related design discipline
0 to 2 years of professional experience (internships/academic projects count)
Some exposure to client-facing work is a plus, but not required
A portfolio showing design thinking, drawings, or academic/personal furniture projects
Skills and Competencies
Technical
Working knowledge of AutoCAD required; SketchUp, 3ds Max, or equivalent 3D tool preferred
Basic understanding of furniture materials like wood, stone, upholstery, hardware, and finishes
Willingness to learn manufacturing processes on the job
Interpersonal
Eager to learn, detail-oriented, and comfortable taking direction
Robust written and verbal communication in English; Kannada or Hindi a plus
Comfortable working in a small team where ownership grows quickly
