- Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into efficient Liferay solutions.
- Design and develop portal components including themes, portlets, hooks, EXT plugins, and service builder modules.
- Utilize out-of-the-box capabilities of Liferay to minimize customizations and ensure maintainability.
- Perform system integration with external systems via REST, SOAP, and other interfaces.
- Work with Liferay-specific concepts like Organizations, Roles, Permissions, Workflow, User Management, and Site Administration.
- Customize the UI/UX using Liferays frontend frameworks, templates, and theme development (Freemarker, React, JSP, AlloyUI, etc.).
- Optimize performance and scalability of Liferay implementations.
- Lead and mentor junior developers, participate in code reviews, and enforce coding standards and practices.
- Stay updated with the latest Liferay versions, patches, and security advisories.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across dev/test/prod environments.
- Ensure secure, accessible, and high-performing portal applications.
- Required Skills Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in web development with 3+ years specifically in Liferay (DXP/CE).
- Deep understanding of Liferay platform capabilities, including Site and Page Management, Assets, Workflows, and Staging.
- Experience in Java/J2EE, Spring Framework, Hibernate, and Web Services (REST/SOAP).
- Proficiency with Liferay frameworks: Service Builder,
Portlet APIs, and Liferay-specific tag libraries.
- Frontend development skills with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, React (optional), Freemarker, and JSP.
- Solid understanding of Liferay Permissions, Roles, and User Management.
- Experience in deploying and managing Liferay instances (Tomcat, Apache, or other containers).
- Hands-on with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems like Git.
- Knowledge of databases (MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL) and Liferays database schema.
- Familiarity with Agile development processes and tools (JIRA, Confluence).
- Nice to Have:
- Liferay Certification(s)
- Experience with Liferay Cloud or Liferay PaaS environments
- Exposure to headless CMS or GraphQL-based implementations
- Knowledge of SSO, LDAP integration, or SAML for authentication
- Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and SEO optimization within Liferay
