We are looking for a skilled Specialist - System Management with 3 to 6 years of hands-on experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in a production support environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of PostgreSQL architecture, replication, indexing, and query performance tuning.

Roles and Responsibility

- Provide L1-L2 production support for PostgreSQL database environments, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident resolution.
- Perform routine DBA tasks such as backups, restores, patching, upgrades, replication management, and capacity planning.
- Monitor database health and performance using Grafana dashboards and configure/fine-tune settings to proactively catch issues before they impact production.
- Investigate and resolve performance issues, slow queries, locking, deadlocks, index tuning, and query optimization.
- Manage user access roles and permissions in line with security best practices.
- Support high availability and disaster recovery setups, streaming replication, failover, backup/restore strategy.
- Participate in on-call rotation for production incident support.
- Document runbooks, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Work with development teams on schema changes, migrations, and query reviews.
- Assist in scaling initiatives, including support for Citus distributed PostgreSQL environments where applicable.

Job Requirements

- Strong understanding of PostgreSQL architecture, replication, indexing, and query performance tuning.
- Experience with backup and recovery tools such as pgdump, pgbasebackup, WAL-based backups,



or third-party tools like pgBackRestBarman.
- Hands-on experience with Grafana and typically Prometheus or similar for database monitoring and instrumentation.
- Solid understanding of Linux systems administration as it relates to database operations.
- Ability to write clear documentation and runbooks.
- Collaborative mindset for cross-functional troubleshooting.
- Calm and methodical approach during production incidents.
- Good understanding of SQL and the ability to review and optimize queries.
- Experience with Citus distributed PostgreSQL extension for sharding and horizontal scaling.
- Working knowledge of Python for writing automation scripts, monitoring tools, or maintenance utilities.
- Exposure to cloud-managed PostgreSQL services (AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, GCP Cloud SQL).
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible).
- Experience with connection pooling tools (PgBouncer, PgPool II).
- ITIL or incident management process familiarity.
- Proactive, detail-oriented problem solver who takes ownership of database reliability.
- Strong communication skills to work across engineering, infra, and on-call teams.
- Comfort working in a rapid-paced support environment with shifting priorities.
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotational shift support as needed.
