Mainframe Developer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to design, develop, enhance, and support business-critical applications running on IBM Mainframe systems. The ideal candidate should have robust expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and mainframe application support, with experience in developing and maintaining enterprise-level systems.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Develop and enhance batch and online processing programs.
- Troubleshoot application issues and provide timely resolution.
- Optimize application performance and ensure system reliability.
- Work closely with business analysts, architects, testers, and other development teams.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards.
- Create and maintain technical documentation.

Required Skills

Core Mainframe Technologies

- Strong experience in:
- COBOL




- JCL (Job Control Language)
- DB2
- CICS
- VSAM

Database

- Hands-on experience with DB2.
- Knowledge of SQL, query tuning, and performance optimization.

Tools & Utilities

- IBM TSO/ISPF
- SDSF
- File-AID
- Endevor, Changeman, or other source control tools
- Fault Analyzer and Debugging tools

Preferred Skills

- Experience with Mainframe Modernization initiatives.
- Exposure to MQ Series (IBM MQ).
- Knowledge of IMS DB/IMS DC.
- Experience in integrating mainframe applications with distributed systems and APIs.
- Understanding of Agile development methodologies.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in Mainframe Development
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
