Role Purpose

The Area Credit Manager is responsible for managing the credit underwriting and portfolio quality of retail and SME lending business across the assigned geography. The role involves evaluating loan proposals, conducting credit assessments, ensuring adherence to credit policies, minimizing credit risk, and supporting business growth while maintaining portfolio health.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Appraisal & Underwriting

- Assess and approve loan proposals within delegated authority limits.
- Conduct detailed analysis of customer financials, repayment capacity, banking behavior, and credit history.
- Evaluate secured and unsecured loan applications as per company policies.
- Review legal, technical, and valuation reports for secured lending cases.

Risk Management
- Identify and mitigate credit risks in loan proposals.
- Ensure adherence to internal credit policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Monitor early warning signals and take corrective actions to maintain portfolio quality.
- Maintain delinquency and NPA levels within acceptable limits.

Team Management & Stakeholder Coordination
- Guide and support Credit Managers, Credit Officers, and field investigation teams.
- Coordinate with Sales, Operations, Legal, Technical, and Collection teams for faster credit decisions.
- Conduct regular training sessions on credit policies and underwriting standards.

Portfolio Monitoring




- Track portfolio performance across branches in the assigned area.
- Analyze overdue and default trends.
- Recommend policy enhancements based on portfolio behavior and market changes.

Process & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with RBI guidelines and company credit policies.
- Maintain TAT (Turnaround Time) for credit decisions.
- Ensure proper documentation and audit readiness.

Eligibility Criteria

Education
- MBA (Finance) / CA / ICWA / Any Graduate with relevant credit experience.

Experience
- 7 to 12 years of experience in Credit Underwriting within NBFCs, Banks, Housing Finance Companies, or Financial Institutions.
- Experience in secured lending, LAP, MSME Loans, Business Loans, Affordable Housing, Vehicle Finance, or Gold Loans preferred.
- Robust knowledge of financial analysis, income assessment, banking verification, and credit risk management.
