Non-ongoing or temporary employment opportunities may be offered on a full-time, part-time or intermittent/irregular (casual) basis depending on business needs and requirements.
Non-ongoing employment for a specified term may be offered for an initial period of up to 12 months, with the possibility to extend for a further 6 months, for a total maximum period of 18 months.
About our team




Irregular and Intermittent Employees (IIEs/Casual) are employed with the Australian Border Force (ABF) at the APS2 classification and assist frontline operational teams to meet peaks associated with the movement of people and goods across the border.
IIEs are predominantly required to work at international airports to alleviate pressure on existing teams during periods of increased flight departures and arrivals. They are also utilised to work in teams dealing with Maritime, Air Cargo, as well as general administration areas. The work undertaken is mainly outside of standard business hours as the ABF operates within a 24/7 operational environment.
Roles at international airports may require the successful completion of on-site mandatory training prior to undertaking duties.
