Job Summary
The Nurse Manager – Emergency is responsible for the overall administration, clinical supervision, and operational management of the Emergency Department. The role ensures the delivery of safe, high-quality, and timely patient care while maintaining compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Management
- Ensure quality nursing care for all emergency patients.
- Supervise triage, resuscitation, trauma, and critical care services.
- Monitor adherence to clinical protocols, infection control, and patient safety standards.
- Coordinate with consultants and multidisciplinary teams for seamless patient care.
- Handle emergency situations and support staff during critical incidents.
Operational Management
- Manage daily operations of the Emergency Department.
- Ensure optimum staffing and duty roster management.
- Monitor bed availability and patient flow to minimize waiting time.
- Ensure availability of emergency equipment, crash carts, medications, and consumables.
- Coordinate with support departments for smooth functioning.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with NABH, JCI (if applicable), and hospital quality standards.
- Monitor nursing quality indicators and implement quality improvement initiatives.
- Conduct clinical audits and ensure documentation compliance.
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and supervise nursing staff.
- Conduct orientation and competency assessments for recent nurses.
- Identify training needs and facilitate continuous education programs.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
Patient & Family Care
- Ensure high standards of patient experience.
