Purpose/Objective
The IT Application Engineer is responsible for end-to-end ownership of enterprise business applications, ensuring their availability, performance, security, and alignment with business objectives. The role acts as a bridge between business stakeholders, vendors, and internal IT teams to deliver stable, scalable, and compliant application solutions.
Key Responsibilities of Role
Key Responsibility 1. Application Ownership & Lifecycle Management - •Own and manage the full lifecycle of business applications (SAP, custom apps, COTS, SaaS), SAP integration with other business applications. - •Ensure applications meet business, functional, and non-functional requirements. - •Plan and manage application upgrades, enhancements, patches, and decommissioning. - •Maintain application roadmaps aligned with business strategy. 2. Business & Stakeholder Engagement - •Act as the primary IT point of contact for business users for assigned applications. - •Gather, analyze, and validate business requirements. - •Translate business needs into functional and technical specifications. - •Support preparation and review of BRD, FRD, SOW, and change requests. 3. Vendor & Partner Management - •Manage application vendors, system integrators, and support partners. - •Oversee SLAs, KPIs, contracts, renewals, and service performance. - •Coordinate issue resolution, escalations, and root cause analysis with vendors. - •Support vendor evaluation, PoCs, and software selection activities. 4. Operations & Support Management - •Ensure application availability, performance, and reliability. - •Oversee L2/L3 application support and incident/problem management. - •Ensure adherence to ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change, Release). - •Drive continuous improvement in application support processes. 5. Change, Release & Risk Management - •Govern application changes through formal change management processes. - •Ensure proper testing (UAT, regression,
security) before release. - •Identify application risks and implement mitigation plans. - •Ensure rollback and disaster recovery readiness. 6. Security, Compliance & Governance - •Ensure applications comply with information security, data privacy, and regulatory requirements. - •Coordinate application security reviews, audits, and vulnerability remediation. - •Ensure role-based access control (RBAC) and audit trails are enforced. - •Align applications with enterprise architecture and IT standards. 7. Documentation & Reporting - •Maintain accurate application documentation (architecture, interfaces, SOPs). - •Provide regular status reports on application health, issues, and initiatives. - •Track application KPIs such as availability, incidents, and user satisfaction. Key Skills & Competencies Technical Skills - •Solid understanding of enterprise applications (SAP, MES, custom applications). - •Knowledge of application architecture, integrations, APIs, and databases. - •Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure/GCP), SaaS models, and middleware. - •Understanding of ITIL, SDLC. Functional & Managerial Skills - •Stakeholder and vendor management - •Requirement analysis and solution evaluation - •Change and risk management - •Budgeting and cost optimization - •Strong documentation and reporting skills

Qualifications and Experience
Education & Experience - •Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or Engineering - •Minimum 3-5 years' experience in application management - •Experience managing enterprise-scale business applications - •Exposure to regulated or large enterprise environments preferred - •Manufacturing Industryspecific experience - •Experience in SAP deployment and changes as per business need.
