Key Responsibilities of a Senior Production Manager
1. Production Planning
- Develop daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.
- Ensure optimal utilization of manpower, machines, and materials.
- Meet production targets while minimizing downtime.
- Production Operations
- Supervise the complete manufacturing process.
- Monitor production performance and resolve operational issues.
- Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Team Management
- Lead and supervise production supervisors, operators, and technicians.
- Assign work, monitor performance, and provide training.
- Promote teamwork and employee motivation.
- Inventory & Material Management
- Coordinate with stores and procurement to ensure material availability.
- Minimize material wastage and optimize inventory levels.
- Monitor production consumption and yield.
- Machine & Equipment Management
- Ensure machines are maintained and operating efficiently.
- Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance with the maintenance team.
- Improve equipment reliability and productivity.
- Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations.
- Conduct safety training and promote secure work practices.
- Investigate accidents and implement preventive measures.
- Cost Control
- Monitor production costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Reduce scrap, rework, and production losses.
- Improve overall manufacturing efficiency.
- Continuous Improvement
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and other improvement initiatives.
- Analyze production data and identify process improvements.
- Increase productivity and reduce cycle time.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare daily production reports and KPI dashboards.
- Maintain production records, batch records, and work instructions.
- Report production performance to senior management
