About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer with strong expertise in IBM a and IBM API Connect. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience building secure, scalable, and highperformance API solutions, along with deep knowledge of API gateway technologies, security protocols, and integration patterns.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain API solutions using IBM DataPower and IBM API Connect.
- Create and configure MultiProtocol Gateways (MPG), Web Service Proxies (WSP), Web Application Firewalls (WAF), XML configurations, and APIs in API Connect.
- Implement security policies, authentication mechanisms, and encryption standards across services.
- Work with TLS profiles, AAA (Authentication, Authorization, Auditing) policies, OAuth, and other security models.
- Develop transformations using XML Schema (XSD), XSLT, and XPath.
- Interpret and implement solutions using OpenAPI Specifications (OAS).
- Write and maintain Gateway Scripts for advanced API processing.
- Manage the full API lifecycle, including design, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and retirement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality integration solutions.
- Troubleshoot performance, security,



and configuration issues in DataPower and API Connect environments.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Strong hands-on experience with IBM DataPower appliances.
- Expertise in IBM API Connect including API creation, assembly, security, and deployment.
- Proficiency in MPG, WSP, WAF, and XML configurations.
- Solid understanding of security concepts and protocols:
- TLS/SSL
- OAuth
- AAA policies
- API security best practices

- Strong knowledge of:

- XML, XSLT, XPath, and XML Schema
- OpenAPI specifications
- Gateway Scripts (JavaScript-based scripting in DataPower/API Connect)

- Good understanding of web service fundamentals:

- SOAP & REST
- Web service security

- Experience in debugging, performance tuning, and log analysis.
- Ability to work independently and mentor junior engineers.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for API deployments.
- Familiarity with cloud environments (Azure/AWS/GCP).
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and automation.
- Experience with monitoring and alerting tools.
