We are currently looking for an experienced professional for the role of Linux OS Subject Matter Expert (Cloud Migration).

Position Details

- Role: Linux OS Subject Matter Expert (Cloud Migration)
- Experience: 8+ Years (Minimum 5 years in deep Linux internals)
- Location: Hyderabad

Role Overview

This is a senior SME role where you will act as the technical authority for Linux workloads in large-scale on-premise to cloud migration programs.

You will own critical design decisions, resolve complex OS-level issues, and enable the broader engineering team with reusable solutions and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Leadership

- Act as the design authority for Linux OS migration architecture
- Lead technical reviews, sign off on migration runbooks and strategies
- Serve as escalation point for complex failures (kernel panic, GRUB, initramfs, etc.)
- Mentor engineers and build reusable automation & playbooks

2. Linux Internals & Kernel Expertise

- Strong understanding of kernel architecture, memory, networking, and I/O subsystems
- Troubleshoot kernel-level issues using tools like kdump, crash, perf, ftrace, eBPF
- Manage kernel upgrades, modules, and hypervisor compatibility

3. Boot & System Initialization





- Expertise in complete Linux boot chain (UEFI/BIOS GRUB Kernel Systemd)
- Diagnose and fix GRUB failures, initramfs issues, and root device problems
- Perform BIOS-to-UEFI conversions and cloud-init configuration

4. Storage & File Systems

- Strong experience with LVM, RAID, multipath, and block I/O
- Expertise in ext4, XFS, Btrfs, ZFS and troubleshooting filesystem issues
- Handle disk expansion and post-migration storage corrections

5. Cloud Migration Execution

- Lead migrations across AWS, Azure, and GCP using tools like MGN, Azure Migrate, virt-v2v
- Manage Linux golden images and lifecycle in cloud environments
- Handle HA clusters, replication setups, and complex workloads

6. Security & Hardening

- Implement SELinux/AppArmor policies and troubleshoot issues
- Manage authentication (SSSD, LDAP, AD, Kerberos)
- Ensure compliance with CIS/STIG benchmarks and security standards

Required Skills

- Deep Linux expertise (kernel, boot, storage, systemd, networking)
- Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP
- Virtualization: VMware, KVM, Xen
- Automation: Bash, Python, Ansible (Terraform is a plus)
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis capabilities

Preferred Qualifications

- RHCE / RHCA / Cloud Certifications (AWS/Azure/GCP)
- Experience in large-scale (1000+ VM) migration programs
- Exposure to compliance frameworks (PCI-DSS, ISO, NIST, etc.)
