Role Overview

Astral Adhesives is looking for an experienced Hot Melt Officer to lead and supervise hot melt adhesive production operations. The candidate will be responsible for managing shift activities, optimizing production efficiency, ensuring product quality, leading process improvements, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to achieve production targets while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Shift Management

- Lead and manage hot melt production shift operations to achieve daily production targets.
- Ensure smooth execution of hot melt coating, lamination, extrusion, and related manufacturing processes.
- Allocate manpower effectively and monitor shift performance to maximize productivity.

Process Monitoring & Optimization

- Monitor and control critical process parameters including temperature, pressure, line speed, coating thickness, and output.
- Optimize machine utilization, production efficiency, and material consumption.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve process performance and reduce operational losses.

Quality Assurance

- Ensure products meet established quality specifications and process standards.
- Coordinate with the QA/QC team for in-process inspections and corrective actions.
- Monitor product rejection trends and implement preventive measures to improve First Pass Yield.

Troubleshooting & Maintenance Coordination

- Lead troubleshooting of process and equipment-related issues to minimize downtime.
- Analyze machine downtime and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).




- Coordinate with the maintenance team for preventive maintenance and breakdown resolution.

Team Leadership & Development

- Train, mentor, and monitor operators on safe operating procedures and process best practices.
- Evaluate operator performance and promote continuous skill development.
- Foster teamwork and ensure compliance with production and safety procedures.

Documentation & Reporting

- Prepare daily shift reports covering production output, rejection, downtime, manpower utilization, and machine efficiency.
- Maintain accurate production records and ensure compliance with SOPs and audit requirements.
- Report production performance and process improvement initiatives to management.

Safety & Compliance

- Ensure strict adherence to EHS policies, SOPs, and environmental standards.
- Promote 5S practices and maintain a secure, clean, and organized production environment.
- Ensure safe handling of hot materials, rotating equipment, and production machinery.

Key Skills & Requirements

- Hands-on experience in Hot Melt Coating, Lamination, or Extrusion Processes
- Strong knowledge of hot melt reactors, coating lines, extrusion systems, and process controls
- Experience in shift management and manpower handling
- Ability to analyze production data and improve machine efficiency
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
- Good understanding of 5S, TPM, Lean Manufacturing, and EHS practices
- Knowledge of production reporting and KPI monitoring
