Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled SQL Developer with strong SSRS and SQL performance tuning skills to help improve the performance of existing SSRS reports and migrate the entire library to Power BI Tabular reports in Azure. You must have proven skills in untangling complicated SQL logic, identifying performance bottlenecks and tuning for performance and maintainability as well as knowledge in SSRS and Power BI.

Key Responsibilities

- Code deconstruction & analysis - untangle complicated SQL logic & remove unnecessary complexity. This includes understanding of dynamic sql in stored procedures, views, nested views, scalar and table valued functions and more.
- Mapping the flow of data and dependencies across database objects to understand a reports data sources and rewrite the code in an efficient and easy to understand way.
- Query tuning and performance optimization - Identify and diagnose performance issues in queries and stored procedures. Implement advanced query tuning techniques to significantly improve report execution times and reduce server load.
- Refactor complex SQL code into simpler, more readable,



and maintainable structures without altering report output.
- Document code logic and proposed changes for future reference.
- Implement SQL development best practices for performance & readability
- Migrate on-premises SSRS reports to Azure Fabric capacity Power BI Tabular reports
- Build Power BI Dashboards to provide interactive reports that reflect tabular SSRS file formats.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Expert level T-SQL skills, including syntax, functions, joins, subqueries, window functions, and other advanced query techniques
- Demonstrated ability to read & understand highly complex SQL code, including reverse engineering data lineage
- Advanced query optimization & performance tuning techniques including reading and understanding SQL Server Execution Plans, understanding indexing strategies
- Expert problem solving skills
- Attention to detail - Must be able to review all adjustments for accuracy to ensure no impacts to final results after adjustments.
- Expert Communication - must be able to communicate well with others to understand what was written and communicate changes.
