We are seeking an experienced COBOL/400 Developer with strong expertise in the AS400 (IBM i/iSeries) platform. The candidate will be responsible for developing, enhancing, supporting, and maintaining business-critical applications built on COBOL/400. The role requires hands-on experience with IBM i development tools, DB2/400 databases, and production support activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance, and maintain applications using COBOL/400.
- Analyze business requirements and prepare technical design documents.
- Work on application support, incident resolution, and root cause analysis.
- Develop and modify batch and online programs on the AS400 platform.
- Perform code reviews, testing, and deployment activities.
- Collaborate with business users, analysts, and cross-functional teams.
- Support production releases and change management activities.
- Ensure application performance, stability, and adherence to coding standards.
Required Skills
- Solid experience in COBOL/400 development.
- Hands-on experience with AS400 / IBM i / iSeries platform.
- Good knowledge of DB2/400.
- Experience with:
- Physical Files (PF)
- Logical Files (LF)
- Display Files (DSPF)
- Printer Files (PRTF)
- Experience with CL/CLLE Programming.
- Knowledge of IBM i development tools such as:
- Experience in application maintenance, support, and debugging.
- Understanding of SDLC and release management processes.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of RPG/RPGLE.
- Banking, Financial Services, Insurance (BFSI) domain experience.
- Experience with Agile methodologies.
- Exposure to production scheduling and job monitoring.
Good to Have
- Experience in modernization or migration projects.
- Integration experience with external systems and APIs.
- Knowledge of version control and deployment tools.
