A leading Germany-headquartered IT services organization is inviting applications from experienced Application Developers in Pune/Kochi.

The Application Developer will support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of software applications in accordance with internal standards, project requirements, and customer needs.

The position will involve writing clean and maintainable code, resolving technical issues, contributing to technical specifications, reviewing code, estimating development activities, and collaborating with internal and customer-facing teams.

The position will report functionally to a Team Leader and administratively to a Location Manager.

Key responsibilities

Application Development and Maintenance

- Develop, enhance, and maintain software applications based on functional and technical requirements.
- Write clean, structured, reusable, and well-documented code.
- Develop software using at least one major programming language, such as C, C++, Java, C#, Python, or a comparable language.
- Handle technical tasks including bug fixing, defect resolution, unit testing, troubleshooting, and ticket resolution.
- Maintain existing applications and implement required improvements or changes.

Code Quality and Technical Problem-Solving

- Review code for functionality, quality, maintainability, and compliance with requirements.
- Participate in pull-request reviews and provide constructive technical feedback.
- Analyse requirements and estimate the effort and time required for assigned activities.
- Track and document time spent on projects and assigned tasks.
- Communicate technical progress, risks, and challenges to relevant stakeholders.
- Complete assigned deliverables in line with agreed timelines and quality standards.

Documentation and Collaboration

- Prepare basic technical specifications and supporting documentation.
- Document relevant application,



project, customer, and technical information.
- Maintain internal documentation relating to technologies, systems, development practices, and tools.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues, project stakeholders, and customer-facing teams.
- Contribute to the technical onboarding of new colleagues.
- Share technical knowledge and support junior team members when required.

Continuous Improvement

- Evaluate relevant tools and technologies and provide input on their suitability.
- Identify and recommend technical or process improvements.
- Continuously develop technical knowledge through training, certifications, self-learning, and practical application.
- Demonstrate a proactive, solution-oriented, and collaborative approach.
- Follow organizational quality standards, security requirements, and established working practices.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience: At least three years of qualified experience in application development, software development, or software engineering, including developing, maintaining, testing, and troubleshooting software applications.

Language Skills: Business-proficient written and verbal English communication skills.

Soft Skills: Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills, effective communication, the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team,



and the ability to communicate delivery risks clearly.

Technical Skills and Competencies

Programming & Development: Ability to develop software using at least one major programming language, such as C, C++, Java, C#, Python, or a comparable language, while applying object-oriented programming, clean-code principles, and software-development best practices.

Application Architecture & Lifecycle: Understanding of the software-development lifecycle, application architecture, requirements analysis, and Agile or comparable software-development methodologies.

Software Engineering & Maintenance: Experience developing, maintaining, testing, troubleshooting, and supporting software applications, including customer-facing projects or applications.

Problem Solving & Quality Assurance: Experience with unit testing, debugging, bug fixing, defect resolution, and documenting technical issues and solutions.

Version Control & Code Review: Familiarity with Git and version-control practices, including code reviews, pull requests, and collaborative software-development workflows.

Technical Specifications & Estimations: Ability to interpret functional and technical requirements, prepare technical specifications and documentation, estimate development activities, and communicate potential delivery risks.

Collaboration & Leadership: Ability to contribute effectively within international or distributed development teams and experience supporting or mentoring junior developers.

Certifications & Additional Experience (Preferred): Relevant technical certifications and experience supporting customer-facing software projects, distributed development teams, or Agile development environments.
