A Production Engineer (Mechanical) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and improving manufacturing operations to ensure products are produced safely, efficiently, on time, and within quality standards.

Responsibilities in a Heavy Fabrication Industry

For a heavy fabrication company, a Production Engineer would additionally:

- Plan fabrication activities based on approved drawings.
- Supervise cutting, bending, fit-up, welding, machining, blasting, painting, and assembly.
- Monitor welding procedures (WPS/PQR) and consumables.
- Ensure dimensional accuracy during fabrication.
- Coordinate stage-wise inspections with QA/QC.
- Manage fabrication resources including cranes, welding machines, and material handling equipment.




- Ensure compliance with project schedules and customer delivery commitments.
- Monitor subcontract activities where applicable.
- Control fabrication costs and optimize material utilization.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 quality management requirements.

These responsibilities are suitable for industries such as heavy engineering, structural steel fabrication, pressure vessels, cement plants, power plants, bridges, and industrial equipment manufacturing.
